It is rare for a Muslim to deliver a sermon in a Catholic church. But that is what already happened last Sunday in the Berlin Canisius Jesuits community where the theme of the event was Lent, Ramadan – and Greece.

Imam Abdul Basit Tariq from the Khadija Mosque of the Ahmadiyya community in Pankow-Heinersdorf was a guest of the Jesuit community in the Charlottenburg St. Canisius.

The Lietzensee parish uses occasions of Lent vespers (the sunset evening prayer service), says Father Joachim Gimbler, for delivering Lenten sermons for the interfaith entitled, “Fasting is also in other religions”.

  1. Imam Basit Tariq of Germany is really an active participant in such events. Very oft Germans see him in newspapers and on TV talk shows. His way of explaining things is also very impressive.
