Humanity First works to assist people affected by natural disasters, war, and poverty in two ways. Volunteers first provide needed disaster relief services, and then they help build back those same communities. To do that, the non-profit organization utilizes volunteers who travel to affected areas, giving their time to make a difference. On the ground in Guatemala right now is a team from the University of Michigan.
A team of Humanity First USA volunteers is in Masagua, Guatemala, through March 3, for a weeklong medical mission to provide basic primary care to those in need. The volunteer team includes four doctors and 14 undergraduate students from University of Michigan.
