Fake Mulla Nasruddin jokes

I do not know why and from where a lot of fake Mulla Nasruddin now circulate on the internet. Like for instance this one:

When Mulla Nasrudin died, his wife decided to have him cremated. The attendant at the crematory showed his widow a display of beautifully decorated urns for his ashes. “NO,” she said. “I DON’T WANT ANY OF THOSE THINGS. I WANT YOU TO PUT HIS ASHES IN AN HOUR GLASS. I AM GOING TO PUT IT ON THE MANTELPIECE. MULLA NASRUDIN NEVER DID A DAY’S WORK IN HIS LIFE, BUT BELIEVE ME, HE WILL BE BUSY ALL DAY LONG FROM NOW ON.”

No Muslim would think of ‘cremation’, not even Mulla Nasruddin’s wife (even if she had reasons as quoted above)…

  1. fake or not:

    190.
“That pain in your leg is caused by old age,” the doctor told Mulla Nasrudin. “That can’t be,” replied the Mulla. “THE OTHER LEG IS THE SAME AGE AND DOESN’T HURT A BIT.”

  2. Nice catch! But aren’t most of (all?) the Mullah Nasruddin jokes fake? By fake I mean, here, made up; made up by some clever folks.
It so happens that this one was made by someone who did not know that Muslims do not cremate their dead and that someone called Mullah Nasruddin cannot be anything other than a Muslim.

  3. Mr. Zafarullah, with due respect; jokes are jokes, try to enjoy anything that will lighten up your day, this world is alraedy full of sorrows and tensions, so don’t critcise everything, if you ever get a chance to laugh then laugh aloud and enjoy. There are jokes made up for anything, religions, races, people etc. There are so many things which we really have to ponder upon, but we just ignore them. Please be happy.

  4. Mullah Naser ud Din was a real person who lived in the 13h century. He was known for his wisdom and philosophical thinking. His wisdom has been reflected in form of jokes and anecdotes in various cultures (Middle east, Africa, china etc) under different names. So there is lot of fictional taste in his legacy. Naser ud Din now is a brand name for any joke which reflects high level of wisdom and philosophical thinking.
