SuaraJogja.id – Marking the 100th anniversary of its presence and contribution in the archipelago, the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Muslim Community held a talk show and book review roadshow today, Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
Taking place at the Koinonia Auditorium, Duta Wacana Christian University ( UKDW ) Yogyakarta , this event carried the main theme “One Hundred Years Together: Weaving Resilience, Strengthening National Identity and Human Solidarity”.
This event specifically dissects the book entitled Ahmadiyya Muslims and Indonesia: 100 Years of Religiousness & Humanity.
This special book summarizes reflections on friendship and humanitarian work written by 100 non-Ahmadiyya Indonesian figures based on facts and their direct interactions with the Jamaat.
Presenting Interfaith Figures and Academics
To thoroughly explore the dynamics of history, religious moderation, and address the various stigmas often directed at the Ahmadiyah community, this event presents a line-up of credible speakers.
The discussion was guided by Anna Amalia as moderator, presenting:
- Zaki Firdaus Syahid, ST, MT (National Amir of JAI) – Keynote Speaker
- Prof. Alimatul Qibtiyah, Ph.D. (Professor of Gender Studies, UIN Sunan Kalijaga & Associate Director of the Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies)
- Dr. Zainal Abidin Bagir (Lecturer in the Inter-religious Studies Doctoral Program, Gadjah Mada University)
- Rev. Yunarso Rusandono, MAPS. (Doctoral Student of Theology Program, UKDW & Companion of the Tunggal Rasa Group)
Through the panelists’ presentations, the public was invited to observe the Ahmadiyah’s track record since arriving in Tapaktuan in 1925, their commitment to the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia, and their consistency in upholding the motto “Love for All, Hatred for None” amidst the vortex of persecution and misunderstanding.
Facts about Age and Close Relationship with Gus Dur
Many people don’t realize exactly when this community arrived in the archipelago. They officially set foot in Indonesia on December 21, 1925.
“So, the Ahmadiyah Muslim Congregation in Indonesia is 13 years younger than Muhammadiyah, and about 1 month older than Nahdlatul Ulama (NU),” said Zaki Firdaus Syahid, ST, MT as the National Amir of JAI.
Their journey was actually quite conducive during the first 80 years of their existence. In 2000, their world spiritual leader was even officially received at the State Palace by President KH. Abdurrahman Wahid.
Testimony of 100 Interfaith Figures
The book, “Ahmadiyya Muslims and Indonesia,” is a powerful testament to cross-border friendship. Academic experts and interfaith figures have objectively analyzed its contents.
“The book entitled ‘Ahmadiyya Muslims and Indonesia’, published in two volumes, tells a reflection on friendship, companionship, and also experiences of togetherness with Ahmadiyya Muslims,” explained Zaki.
