Hepatitis C vaccine a step closer: University of Alberta researchers
Researchers at the University of Alberta claim to have developed a formula that could lead to a vaccine for hepatitis C.
Michael Houghton, internationally recognized in the field of hepatitis virology, said his lab’s discovery includes a vaccine that, when tested on human subjects, produced antibodies that neutralized or killed major species of the virus.
“That’s very important because the vaccine that was tested … was derived from a single strain,” Houghton said Wednesday from Vancouver. Read more
