In Germany, most people think of wars, poverty and hunger when they think of Africa. Chancellor Angela Merkel’s stopover on the continent, where she will travel to three countries in just three days, is unlikely to change that. Other nations have long been investing in Africa, and are reaping the benefits.

  1. Angela Merkel has made some daring decisions in the past too- not participating in the Iraq war.

  2. While I support Germany’s decision to stay out of Iraq and Libya wars I do find it unfortunate that they are missing out on the peaceful development of Africa. After all such development always benefits both sides.
