JEDDAH: About 1,200 young men and women will marry in a mass wedding to be held on May 16, the Welfare Society for Marriage and Family Guidance announced on Friday.

It said Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, the society’s honorary chairman, would patronize the event at the Jeddah Convention Center. Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed will also attend the celebrations.

The society said it had completed all arrangements to receive applications from interested young men and women to take part in its 14th mass wedding. It said during the past few years, it married off 6,670 men and women.
