The Basharat Mosque (span.: Mezquita Basharat; the name means “good news”) was inaugurated on September 10, 1982 in Pedro Abad, in the Spanish comarca of Alto Guadalquivir, province of Córdoba by Mirza Tahir Ahmad (late), fourth Caliph of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (currently fifth Caliph Mirza Masroor Ahmad heads the Community). The mosque is the centre of Ahmadiyya-Movement in Spain.

The foundation stone was laid by the 3rd Khalifat-ul Masih, Mirza Nasir Ahmad on October 9, 1980. It is the first purpose-built mosque since the end of Muslim rule at the end of the 15th century.[1][2]

The annual gathering of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Spain (Jalsa Salana) is celebrated in Pedro Abad.

  2. This posting, containing the most attractive, beautifully built Mosque of Islam-e-Ahmadiyyat, called Basharat Mosque, the first one constructed in Spain after about 7 hundred years, in 1980-82, by the World-wide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, whose foundation stone was laid by Hadhrat Al-Salis (rhm)in 1980 and when completed in 1982, was inaugurated by Hadhrat Al-Rabeh(rhm). Alhamdolillah.
All these aspects, especially the handsome colored photo of the Mosque reminds this scribe of his visit to Basharat Mosque in the 3rd week of September 2001. That was the year when the Central Jalsa Salana was held in Germany and after the Jalsa a delegation of some eight members from Qadian and Rabwah were given the unprecedented honor to travel from Fankfurt to Pedro Abad, south of Spain, where Basharat Mosque inspiringly dominates the whole surroundings all around. When our 8-seater Wagon(of ansarullah Germany) entered the compound of the Mosque and our feet touched the Spainish ground, the first thing shown to us by Syed Abdullah Shah Sahib, our host and Missionary Incharg was that the lofty Church building in front of the Basharat Mosque, across the Motorway was being pulled down by huge the Cranes. This was taken by all sight-seers/ visitors as good omen as a welcome gesture. We stayed in Basharat Mosque for 4 Days and our dedicated and experienced Hosts took us to many historical places including Al-Hambra Palaces and other worth-visiting places, which make us recall the reminiscences of the great Arab rulers of one thousand years ago, especially King Abdur Rahman 111, who is still remembered with honor, because of his outstanding Construction Works and long-lasting institutions about which the succeeding new generations of Spain, even to-day feel proud of. Oh! sorry for taking too much precious time of you my respected dear readers. I wish and pray that you also find an opportunity to visit these places to learn new things and new knowledge. Anyhow, we, the God blessed members of the central delegates, were on our way back to Frankfurt on September 24,and reached our Germany Jalsa Salana, Frankfurt destination on Sept.26,2001, by the grace of God.Alhamdolillah.
