St Catherine Monastery

St Catherine Monastery holds great significance for Muslims and Islam.  This Monastery’s administrators requested the Holy Prophet Mohammad to give them his protection against any attack.  The Prophet Mohammad gave them his word in  writing!  A few lines are presented below:

This is a message from Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, near and far, we are with them …
Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants.
No one of the nation (Muslims) is to disobey the covenant till the Last Day (end of the world).

Based on Prophet Muhammad’s powerful pledge, I strongly urge the Grand Mufti in Saudi Arabia to refrain from such a disturbing edict against churches that he recently made. Please, do not desecrate or destroy any church in Saudi Arabia.  Protection of Mosques and churches and Synagogues is an injunction of Quran 22:41.  Please, do not create disorder in the name of Islam.
