US filmmaker Sean Stone, son of Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone, converted to Islam on Tuesday in Iran, where he is making a documentary, he told AFP.

“The conversion to Islam is not abandoning Christianity or Judaism, which I was born with. It means I have accepted Mohammad and other prophets,” he said in a brief telephone call from the central Iranian city of Isfahan, where he underwent the ceremony.

  1. Princeton graduate Sean Stone in the past has defended the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and supported Iran’s right to arm itself with the ultimate weapon.

He said “Israel has nuclear weapons, Iran has the right to them,” He pointed out. “Every nation has the right to self determination for defense.”

  2. When I was working for the very Catholic ‘Caritas’ NGO in Kosovo the Catholic Bishop was very surprised that Caritas Switzerland allowed me – a Muslim – to Head that organization. He was however a very nice gentleman and only mentioned to my successor ‘I could never understand how Caritas Switzerland could allow Rafiq to be its Chief Delegate’.

I would have liked to see his face when, after returning from the Baam earthquake in Iran, my successor came back converted to Islam and bearing the name of Mohammad Ali!!!

(In his case a beautiful Iranian lady was part of the reason).

  3. Every Muslim believes in Jesus and Moses as the true prophets of God. One does not have to stop believing in them to be a Muslim. Detail realization of Islamic teachings will help explain Sean Stone how the religion of Abraham have evolved in to Islam.
