Delhi has become the first state in India to provide “right to health care” for the school children. The new law passed to that effect will help in early diagnosis. It will also enable to tackle future complexities relating to health care of students. Objectives of this programme are to bring improvement in well being of students till class 12. Also, it involves diagnosis, treatment, medical counseling and admission to private hospitals on a need basis. Some of the other objectives include arranging for medical camps and keeping individual computerized record of health related issues. During the first phase of implementation 1.4 million students will be provided with medical checkup.
