MADINAH: Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Prince Naif opened an international conference on “The Phenomenon of Takfir (branding opponents as infidels)…Reasons, Impact and Treatment” here on Tuesday.

Earlier on arrival at the conference venue, Prince Naif was greeted by Prince Saud bin Naif, adviser to Prince Naif and assistant interior minister for general affairs, Prince Abdul Aziz bin Majed, governor of Madinah, and other senior officials.

The conference is organized by Prince Naif International Prize for Sunnah and Contemporary Islamic Studies.

In a statement on the occasion, Assistant Minister of Interior Prince Muhammad bin Naif said Saudi Arabia was the first country that succeeded in combating extremist thoughts and ideologies.

“We achieved this through dialogue and presenting the true teachings of Islam,” Prince Muhammad said, referring to the counseling program introduced by the Kingdom to change the mindset of militants.

He said the conference aims to identify the reasons for the dangerous phenomenon of Takfir in order to find effective solutions to tackle it. He said prominent scholars from the Kingdom and abroad would present research papers on the topic.

He said more than 200 Islamic scholars, psychologists and sociologists are involved in the counseling program benefiting prisoners all over the Kingdom.

NOTE BY THE EDITOR: There was a similar conference in Amman, Jordan, some years ago, without any effect. In fact such conferences will not bear fruit unless it is sincere and complete. By complete we mean that anyone who considers himself a Muslim must be accepted as such. First and foremost of course the members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community need to be included. Without that the blessings of Allah will not be gained, as we have seen from similar conferences in the past.

It may be recalled that similar conferences were held in the past, for instance the one organized by King Abdullah of Jordan in Amman. They seem to have passed without any effect. Could it be because the intentions are still limited? We should accept everyone as Muslim who recites the Kalima Shahada. This includes of course the members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. May be if this ‘extension’ of the conference will be done a genuin change might occur in the Islamic world. May Allah bless the noble efforts!

@ haji. The Ahmadiyya sect claims that their guru (Ahmad qadiani) was a prophet…a belief which automatically expels one from the fold of Islam according to all authorities in Islam. The caliphate of Abu Bakr RA was largely spent in eliminating all those pseudo prophets. Among other ridiculous beliefs that they hold is that Hazrat Isa AS actually walked his way to Kashmir and died there…! To believe that such people are muslims actually makes one a kaafir! takfir is a problem amongst different MUSLIM sects (and ahmadiyya is a different religion and does not form part of muslim sects)

The Ahmadiyya by consenses of World ulema are Non Muslims.. Kuffar if u want to know.. those who say there will be a prophet after Muhammed ur Rasoolullah salallahu alaihi wasallam (peace and blessings be upon him) is no doubt a KAFIR.. understand that ..

  3. to which I replied:

Well, Faraaz and F EARLY are proving why there is a need for such a conference. First one calls members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat non-Muslim and then Shiahs and each other generally. And that is how the killing started. – I also thought walking to Kashmir 2000 years ago must have been quite a feat, but of course it is nothing compared to flying up to heaven and wait for 2000 years behind the moon and then come back with the same body. But that is another topic.

  4. @Faraaz and likeminded.

I think in case of prophethood there is very little difefrence of belief between Ahmadiyya belifes and yours. You also belive that after Holy prophet (Peace be upon him) a Messiah (who will be a prophet) and Imam Mahdi will come. The last prophet with whom people will shake hands with, or listen to his sermons, or give burial to, would be Messiah. We believe Messiah to be born into the Ummah as opposed to be brought back from another times. That is the only difference. There is no difference in his subserviant relationship to Holy Prophet or his status in Ummah or his job description between us and you. In short, we believe that founder of Ahmadiyya Community as a prophet not because there could be prophets after the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) but because he said that Messiah who will appear in later days would be a prophet (see Muslim, etc).

Secondly, you find it incredible that somebody can walk few thousand miles 2000 years when most of Kashmir and Afghanistan was populated by people from Middle East walking there six centuries before Jesus was born. Pakistan’s northern areas are also populated by Greek, again few centuries before Jesus. The surprising part is that you find incredible that a man can travel that far 2000 years ago but you find nothing surprising about a man being lifted up 2000 years ago (when there were no aircrafts), travelling billions of miles in the sky to another universe and is still sitting there!
    Take care.
