“I often meet with Sheikh Fadhil, and we often have discussions. The discussions often revolve around women’s stories. I ask him various questions, but I usually discuss mostly field cases,” she said in an interview with NU Online after the book launch.

One of the issues discussed was female heads of households, including online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers. Khofifah stated that nearly 90 percent of the ojol drivers she spoke to were female heads of households. Of these, approximately 10 percent had children with disabilities.

According to her, this situation demonstrates the heavy burden placed on women who must earn a living while simultaneously raising children. Other issues include the safety of women who work late at night, as well as women’s rights after divorce and the unmet rights of children.

“There were discussions about how women work in the public sector until midnight, and the rights of divorced women who are not given their rights,” he added.   The head of the Central Executive Board of Muslimat Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, explained that the book took about two years to complete and was completed last June. He stated that the book covers women’s rights from childhood through adulthood and old age, providing comprehensive coverage. Read Also

The discussion stemmed from concerns about the continued denial of women’s rights and violence against them.   He then collected arguments from the Koran, hadith, and the history of friends which showed respect for women.   “We are discussing not only women’s rights in terms of property, but also women’s rights in all aspects of life, which have been conveyed in the Qur’an and Hadith, and we have written about them in this book,” he said.
