India’s temple treasure prompts test of faith


After the discovery of a vast, US$22 billion treasure trove in the vaults of a Hindu temple, India is agonizing over letting the priests keep the riches or using them for the greater good. While the sacks of diamonds and precious stones and three-meter-long gold necklaces would make Kerala temple wealthier than the Vatican, the hoard could cover the national education budget for two years.
