My own view is that she has a point. A democracy is a dictatorship of the majority and the majority happens to be Christian (sort of) in Australia. On the other hand she could have stated it a bit more diplomatic.
Each section of immigrants should be free to practice its own religion and culture, but without forcing others to adapt. On the other hand some compromise is always good in the interest of ‘good neighborly relations’.
What are your views?
I would say to Prime Minister Julia Gillard “Well Said”. Please dont forget the way some of our Muslim brothers want to impose their own views over the host nation, it leaves no alternative to the hosts but to throw the diplomacy to the wind and be blunt.

I would like to draw the attention of Australian Prime Minister to the fact that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has always believed in Separation of Mosque-Church and State. In Pakistan and other so called Muslim countries, we have been victims of state sponsored persecution. For example, in Pakistan, in 1974, we were declared non-Muslims by the then National Assembly and Prime Minister of Pakistan. In 1984, General Zia ul Haq, who was in liaison with many of the Islamic political parties promulgated extreme laws against us, the notorious 1984 ordinance.
The state edict (of Pakistan) has no value. Nobody would support it. For example: King Pharoah of Egypt called Moses (a.s.) a Kafir. It is recorded in the Quran. (See verse 26:19/20)
Jesus (a.s.)was convicted as infidel, fit to be killed on the cross, by the Governor Pilate on the insistence of the elders of old time Jews.
Hazrat Hussain (a.s.) was declared as infidel, fit to be killed by the Qadhi Sharie of Kufa. On that edict, he wrote “Bismillah…..” i.e. in the name of Allah…….. Hussain is fit to be killed.
I am sure no sane person will agree to the government edict of 1974 and 1984 which was issued against Jama’at Ahmadiyah on the insistence of the maulvis.
If the government fatwa is to be believed as correct then the previous fatwas against Hazrat Mosa and Isa and Hussain (a.s.) should also be accepted as good and valid. I am sure no Muslim will accept them as valid.
As a further comment to the above, I would say the Prime Minister is right to some extent. We thank God that she believes in God. Australia is not a Godless country. Ahmadi Muslims have no problem living there.
Ahmadi Muslims do not interfere in the local government matters. In most countries they are a victim of oppression by the governments. Ahmadis believe in the saying of Jesus (a.s) “Give unto Caesor what is Caesor’s and unto God what is God’s.” and Ahmadis believe to live in peace.
Ahmadis had started a movement (appeal) telling the so called Muslims in America to “Live in peace or leave America.” I hope that is what the Prime Minister Julia Gillard is trying to say. She is right in giving notice to the trouble creators.

State should be separated from church or Mosque or Synagog or Temple that is the way of Creating peace in a heterogeneous society, every one should be considered wise enough to decide goodness for himself or for herself, this is how a heterogeneous society could be turned into a homogeneous society. If Muslims want to live their lives according to Shariah Law let them do as their personal Law as any other person from any other faith should have the liberty to adopt their Religion as personal Law. I listen this kind of sayings from some of the Christian leaders of the World that “leave the country if Muslims also want freedom of religion or culture”. I think it is bit of also rigididness and hardness found in some parts of christianity ; who want to bring the religion into government and deal with other religions same like other Muslim countries do like in Pakitan, India, etc. It is like bringing religion into state into power sharing so who ever has the majority can dictate the monority. What Julia said is what needs to be done and that too in a very short span of time. It is very easy to understand her “Logic” and that too a very clear cut statement.
I was surprised when one of my Australian friend (Muslim, born and bred in Australia) told me whilst she was here in London last year in July, that there are several areas in Sydney and Brisbane where She as a Muslim dislikes consider going.
She has told stories on how corrupt these Mullah’s are and people that promote terror and inhuman acts in Austalia, I guess it is not just Australia, we see it here in the UK, all the time too
Looking at what we read online, most of these Mullahs keep the same behaviour, attitude and hardly do a good deed to locals, be it Australia or UK, They find a place to live, allowed to work, given equality, but no matter how cooperative locals are, these guys simply cannot change (perhaps, they do not want to change?)
It was a very good point by Brian and Zia Sahib in General. Muslim countries need to provide expats with the same rights and give freedom of speech, so they can preach and practise as they choose.

The statement by PM Julia Gillard, if reported truly, is coherent and logical but at the same time let me say it is bit harsh. Integration is not just learning of English, there are so many other aspects too. For a peaceful society, the most important valued significance is to show mutual respect for each other; those who came first or coming these days in this beautiful land. As for Muslims are concerned they should get up against Mullah-ism emerging in any form because it has very inadequately damaged the peaceful image of Islam. This sort of un-Islamic mind-set will leave them for no where. Here the example of Mullah-ism turned into Terrorism in Pakistan is very much relevant. It started in 1974 once the persecuted Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was declared not-Muslim. Later on The Ordinance XX promulgated by the dictator Gen Ziaul Haq strengthened it further in 1984. In historical spectrum, as very rightly pointed out by Mr. Ghulam Sarwar, it was nothing new as the people in power had declared that Moses, Jesus, Hussain in their respective times that they were infidels. Such declarations do no harm to the believers rather it shows that how wrong have been the rulers consistently since ages. The lesson is that the Religious Freedom through Universal Declaration of Human Rights by UNO must be strictly adopted by all the signatory states and The Muslims states, in particular, claiming to be the true followers of Islam because most of its clauses are very much in accordance with ever first written Charter called “ Madina Declaration” that was signed by the Prophet MUHAMMAD (SAW) and the leaders of other communities living in Madina about 15 centuries back. Even today this Charter is as useful as it was at its time of inception , wherever such problems of integration surface as the possibility of risk.

I agree we should fit in, but we should learn about Aboriginal culture and law. I believe in integration but with the first Australians. This is their land and we must do this or we have no business here. I hope Muslims will dialogue with the various Aboriginal groups and have a treaty with them. Our forebears the Makassans did trade with the Yolgnu in the Northern Territory and many Afghans, Indians and Pakistanis and Malays and Indonesian married into Aboriginal families. We should not forget whose land this is. We are Muslims and should live in love and respect with the Aboriginal people as the Ahmadis did with African Americans in the USA in the 20th century.
I believe that people have to obey the laws of the country in which they live. If they don’t like a law they have no right to force the change of the law but they have every right to work democratically and peacefully to change the law.

As mentioned earlier, hoax or no hoax is irrelevant. This has become a point of discussion now, thankfully there haven’t been too many trolls! As an Australian and a muslim, it is obvious that this country allows for all races and religions, but ultimately, the country’s law is the final say on the actions of its people. There are no problems with muslims, hindus, buddhists etc doing what they do, as long as they obey Australian law. As such, learning to speak English and learning the laws are the only two things which immigrants need to do to live in this country. As for Christianity, that’s a choice a person makes, not part of our government system. That quote “Immigrants, not Australians, must adapt”, whether hoax or not, is totally true. If I moved to an Islamic country, I would have to adapt to their laws and customs, not try to influence others with my own. As a final point, most Australians live peacefully with each other, regardless of race or beliefs… sure, there is race or religion related crime, but that is a minority, and I’m sure happens worldwide. In the town where I live, there are Christians, Athiests, Agnostics, Buddhists, Muslims and Hindus that I’m aware of, and we ALL co-exist peacefully and as a community. Sorry for the long post

If she (the PM) never said this and there is no evidence to suggest she did and indeed if it is a hoax, then really in my opinion, it should be removed.
Sources need to be checked before someone is credited with making a statement especially one like this. Not arguing the point of what she might have said but just if there is any doubt, then it should be removed… just does not seem right to me to have it in.
I guess the words “reported to be hoax” troubles me. Surely such a statement can be checked and verified first or when concerns are raised if it is a hoax, it should be checked and if indeed it wis a hoax then a statement like “(Post is discovered to be a hoax, but we leave it on TMT as the reactions are in fact quite interesting): is more acceptable.

I agree completely with Shaun – March 6th. Even if Julia had actually said this, this certainly should not be construed as an ‘Islamophobic’ speech. It merely sets out some of the feelings that any reasonable person would have about the issue.
Imagine if you had a guest visit your home, found that he liked your home – it’s orderliness, its particular culture and the ways of your family – and then the guest asked if he could stay on and become part of your household – to which you replied that you welcomed him, and he could stay as long as he liked, so long as he didn’t upset the rest of your household. He agreed, and moved in with bag and baggage. So far, so good.
If, in the course of time, your erstwhile guest begins to demand that your household adapt to his way of life and to his own peculiar views on things, and begins to complain about the way you and your family do things and to criticise your culture, what will your feelings be? Would you smilingly and uncomplainingly bow to his wishes and ask your family to do as he bids and make themselves amenable to him? Or would you politely show him the door?

Sorry to disappoint, it is a hoax folks, Julia Gillard did not make those comments whatsoever as she is not that intelligent and she doesn’t believe in God either as she is an atheist. The comments were in fact made by a former Australian Prime Minister. Sharia law is in fact in widespread practice in Australia because the Gillard Government has actively encouraged, supported and promoted it. They have been given a duty to serve and protect the Muslims and are highly rewarded for doing so.

The controlling, manipulative,money grabbing Gillard Government really doesn’t care much for the Muslim people either, but tolerates them because of the huge cash incentives. Gillard is by far the worst Prime Minister in Australian political history and the most hated. She needs to be removed from office, and honesty and accountability restored to Government. She had her chance to serve and protect the Australian people.
Actually, the PM of Australia is not a Christian, nor does she profess to be a Christian.

Many of you who comment here claim to be of Peace yet you disturb, you shall be the losers in the end.
You are being watched very closely as you act and play a scene in a big show.
As a non-Muslim Australian, I state that the words written above would never have come from the mouth or hand of an Australian Prime Minister.
For any PM to come out and say something such as the above would have caused major uproar within our society and opened a great debate amongst not only Muslims but non-Muslims too.
So far I haven’t seen or heard anything to suggest this is happening and to be honest, no Australian PM (to date) would have the guts to say something like any of the above out of fear of backlash from the community.

Well that certainly opened up a debate hey? The only thing I have to say about this is, as a complete non religious person, the world is a huge place and we produce enough food and energy to keep another planet! yet we can not live in harmony with one another, and it just seems to me that religion is at the centre of this promotion of hatred of our fellow human beings. If you cut us we all bleed, and it is all the same colour! there are people dying of starvation in the world and yet we could feed them if we wanted to!because we throw enough food away every day!Come on world and more importantly religious leaders pull yourselves together, we are not on this earth for long so lets make the most of it whilst we are.And if you can’t do any good then don’t do anything, because sometimes this is the better alternative.

muslims living in Australia should go by our laws,dont come here and try changing xmas because we celebrate it every year,dont try and stop our Anzac day,if you come here to upset Australia saying we are racist don’t bother coming at all,i died once and was brought back to life,and I can tell you there is no allah or virgins waiting on the other side for you,you all get sucked into a book that was written centuries ago by one man,i think you people have a cheek coming here when you use to burn the Australian flag,i bet you would get upset if we burnt your flag,so all I am saying is if you don’t like Australia go home.
