Our two competing hatreds: Khalid Ahmad
Express Tribune: We have learned to hate America which tried very hard to teach us to hate the Taliban. The Taliban communicate with us — not by asking us to ‘do more’ — but by killing us and telling us we are not good Muslims. The army was the first to hate America — there was always a strong tendency within it for that, courtesy the likes of Hameed Gul — after we got the Kerry-Lugar bill aid.
Then, the army reacted angrily over Raymond Davis, Osama bin Laden and Dr Shakeel Afridi. It hounded the elected government in tandem with the Supreme Court and got rid of its ambassador to the US. After Salala, it blocked the Nato supply route. Then, it got parliament to pass a tough resolution against the US. We all started collectively hating America, climaxed by a violent self-damaging rage over a blasphemous video made in the US.

Pakistanis became real Muslims and Pakistanis after they gave voice to their hatred of India and fought two wars and got defeated. Then they hated Ahmadies and purified the land of “Qadianis” (by resolving the 90 year old problem) in 1974. Thus the country became really pure. Then they hated Russia and fought holy jehad to cleanse Afghanistan of the communist infidels with CIA funding and gained some more national and religious identity. They assembled and detonated a nuclear device to make sure that anyone who hates them can be immediately taught a lesson. Now they hate America and they are trying their best, albeit unsuccessfully, to hate Taliban. We hope that through this successful journey of hate they will gain a sense of complete national identity. Now of course the country has become the real “Fort of Islam” where there is all peace, immense progress and everyone is happy because only pure Muslims and Pakistanis live there.
Once all the hatred is done and out of the system perhaps then they would be ready to love i.e. unless all this hatred completely consumes them. One can only pray that Allah show them the path to love and to redefine themselves through Love.

I hope this only applies to Zalman and terrorist Mullahs and their followers.
I can see that still majority of Pakistanis are gentle and peace loving. They are probably trapped in this situation because of socio-economic injustice.
I can reasonbly say that, because when they leave Pakistan and you meet them in USA or Europe they behave very well.
Unless the curse of shadow of Zalman and ignorant Mullah is not removed they will continue to behave irrationally.
