Truth About Islamic Khilafat – Misconceptions Removed

By Shahid Pervaiz; As the “Original Muslim Community” transhaped from the Caliphate to a series of Monarchial Dynasties – starting from within 60 years after the Holy Prophet of Islam Hadhrat Muhammad – peace and blessings of God be upon Him always – the “Kings” still however, preferred to designate themselves as “Caliphs”.

This is how the monarchs and their courtiers, successfully “dodged” with the Public Concept of Islamic Rule.

The personal characters of many of the Kings “swung” in clear contrast with the Islamic Teachings, yet, many of the Clergy were also most apt to support them in prolonging their rule and most unfortunately continued to issue “Fatwas” (verdicts) in their favor.

The Muslim masses were deliberately kept “Oblivious” of Islamic Teachings and were gradually turned into “Ignorant Bodies” following the Notorious Fatwas with their “Innocent” but “Ignorant” Cybers.

Masses were gradually made and kept “Ignorant” as a State Policy.

That is when The Muslim Kings’ Courts DIMINISHED to fabulous tales instead of being a Seat of a Real Government.

Tales and stories like “One Thousand and One Nights” became Culture in Vogue and were mostly set into the imagery of the Caliphates.

The obvious result of it was that a King – titled as “Caliph” became a “Pseudo Personality” – more fictional than real.

This is the Concept of Islamic Caliphate that is picked up by the Europeans – and that is why they still associate “The Magic Carpets” and “The Alladin Lamps” with Muslim Caliphate.

The western societies and the global society INCLUSIVE OF MUSLIM POPULACE NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT “DYNASTICAL MUSLIM MONARCHIES” WERE “KINGSHIPS” AND NOT the “ISLAMIC CALIPHATES IN SUCCESSION TO PROPHETHOOD”.

The “Muslim Caliphate” construes to mean “SUCCESSION to PROPHETHOOD” – nothing more and nothing less – period!!!

Any proclamation of Caliphate wherein the life, the acts and the deeds are contrary to the Islamic Teachings CANNOT BE AND MUST NOT BE called, attributed as; and/or understood to be “the Muslim Caliphate”.

It can be at the very most of it a “Mockery” of the Islamic Caliphate – BUT – NOT THE ISLAMIC CALIPHATE by any measure.

Scholars and Historians {please} MUST observe the differentiation between the two.

The Islamic Caliphate, ever since after the “Armed Depositioning” of Hadhrat Imam Hasan, r.a.; has been REVIVED in Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Succession to the Holy Advent of the Promised Messiah, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, a.s. IN ABSOLUTE ADHERENCE TO THE PROPHICIES OF THE PROPHET OF ISLAM, HADHRAT MUHAMMAD, peace and blessings of God be upon Him always.

After the demise of the Holy Promised Messiah, a.s., on May 26, 1908 – in perfect following of the tradition; the Islamic Caliphate was established on May 27, 1908 (Hadhrat Maulana Hakim Nooruddin, r.a., was chosen as the first successor to the Promised Messiah, a.s. in Qadian, British India at that time).

Up to this day – the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has amiably extended the “Message of True Islam” to reach “Corners of the Earth” under the patronage of Five Caliphates. Their time line is as follows:-

May 27, 1908 – March 13, 1914
His Holiness Al-Haaj Maulana Hakim Nooruddin, r.a.,

March 14, 1914 – November 07, 1965
His Holiness Al-Haaj Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad, r.a.,

November 08, 1965 – June 09, 1982
His Holiness Hafiz Mirza Nasir Ahmad, r.h.,

June 10, 1982 – April 19, 2003
His Holiness Mirza Tahir Ahmad, r.h.,

April 22, 2003 – Present
His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad, a.b.a.

Part – B:-

Unlike the Doctrine(s) of Political Democracies, the Institution of Islamic Caliphate is entrusted to an Electoral College meant to represent the COLLECTIVE WISDOM OF MUSLIM SOCIETY; thereby reflecting the Divine Will.

Once a Caliphate is instituted, it is a life-long office of responsibility to PERFORM “ALL THAT” which is ascribed as Duties of the Prophethood.

Thus an Islamic Caliph and in present reference the Caliph of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community;

1. Performs all those duties which were performed by the Holy Prophet

2. Safeguards the society against spread of the evil and guides towards righteousness and peace – {peace within self, peace with God and peace with society}

3. Causes wide spread of the Peaceful Message of Islam to the whole mankind; and

4. Caliph’s life constitutes a statute of Divine Guidance

5. Speech, Naration and/or writing by a Caliph strictly synchronizes with the Word of God (The Holy Quraan)

By the Paramount Grace of God Almighty, the Lives of and the Acts by the Ahmadiyya Caliphs superbly conform to these attributes.

When observed with further insight, the acts and deeds of a Caliph reflect the Divine Will:-

At times, the speech of the Caliph constitutes a prophecy that comes to reality amidst its most adverse conditions – (out of no chance of happening).

And at times, an expression by the Caliph is considered feeble (in worldly senses) – and then suddenly an ACT of God takes place CONFIRMING THE SAME WHAT THE CALIPH HAD MOST MODESTLY EXPRESSED.

In other words, sometimes, the Caliphs speaks and the things take shape in happening as he had expressed – AND – at other times, a modest expression by the Caliph turns out be an EXALTED ACT OF GOD.

There are countless examples of this phenomena in the Ahmadiyya History – and a few to mention here, for common understanding of the True Islamic Caliphate as it stands instituted in the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community:-

“I see land shrinking under the feet of Ahrare Islam Party” – 1934
{where is Ahrare Islam Party today – Are they not remembered with disgrace, every one}

“I will cause thy message to reach corners of the earth” – 1892

“Global peace is possible by following Islamic Teachings” – 1967
{is this not becoming an accepted reality}

And finally (for the time being) when Ahmadiyya Persecution in Pakistan surged (again) in 2008 and 2009; there were many to say that the Ahmadiyya Caliph (His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad Sahib – may Allah strengthen his hands with His supreme support) – has not admonished “enough” to the enemies of Ahmadiyyat.

Then what happened – Act of God Arrived; and people witnessed a Flooding from the same old rivers flowing there since thousands of centuries – but this time, the water entering those areas where there was (otherwise) no chance of a flooding ever before in history.

I remember, some of the people saying, “Yes, God has spoken instead of the Caliph”.
