British girl Madeleine McCann, who vanished during a 2007 family vacation in Portugal, may still be alive, UK authorities said Wednesday.

Madeleine was a few days shy of her fourth birthday when she disappeared from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz as her parents dined in a nearby tapas restaurant with friends. Despite a huge police investigation, massive coverage in the Portuguese and British media, and a public riveted on social media, she remains missing.

  1. I think it is a extraordinary example of the love of the parents for their child and the humanity involved by everyone else who is working diligently to find the truth and bring this girl home. It says a lot about the good side of our nature. I hope this child is found safe and well.

  2. These parents are entirely to blame for their missing daughter. They left 3 very young children alone when they could have had baby sitters. Shame on them.

  3. i agree with you susana they should never had left them they were so young and the tapis bar they went to was a bit to far away, i have 3 children and when we go abroad we either go home early or one of us go with them my hubby and i do it in turnes,i dont think she is alive but lets hope she is

  4. From the day I read about this child, I pray everyday with the hope she will be found. In the week she went missing I dreamt a little girl about the age of 9 or 10 was unlocked from a cellar in the very inner rooms of a building. It looked like a house with a lot of rooms, white in colour. The door to this room seemed to be a steel door (like a strong room) the child in my dream had some kind of defect in one eye. Ever since that I have been asking GOD to release this child where ever she is. Let us all pray and trust GOD for a MIRACLE.

  5. You know its very easy to say the parents did the wrong thing by leaving their children alone, but I am quite certain that every single parent has at one time or another not done EXACTLY as they should have done regarding the care of their children. The parents only did what what other parents were doing, and up till then all had been okay. In any case, its past now, and pointing fingers at the parents is not going to find Madeleine. Let us all pray that she is safe and well and will soon be returned to her parents and if not, let her body be found that the parents may begin to accept what has happened and to work through their grief. They have two other children to care for and raise to the best of their ability, and they need to be able to turn their full attention to the other two.

  6. I feel that the parents were wrong leaving the children unattended, and whilst I agree with Gill on every other remark she wrote, I have to say I never left my children unattended, even outside a shop, this would not have happened if at least one of them had stayed with the children, but I expect they condemn themselves daily for this oversight. I think as does Gill that if the child is still alive, it would be wonderful for her to be returned to her parents, if she is no longer alive, she must be found and her remains be handed over to her parents to enable them to place her where they know where she is and they can then begin to build their lives around the knowledge of what happened. I have prayed for Madelaine every day since the tragedy ocurred, I will continue to do so until we eventually hear what actually happened.
