AMMAN –– His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday voiced appreciation for the EU’s continued support for programmes and plans Jordan is implementing to achieve sustainable development in all areas.
During a meeting with EU’s foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, the King said Jordan seeks to become a “successful” model for reform and good governance, adding that the Kingdom pays special attention to achieve economic reform that addresses poverty and unemployment and supports the objectives of political reform.
Discussions also covered means to activate the “advanced status” partnership agreed on in October 2010 and assist Jordan in its reform efforts, according to a Royal Court statement.
King Abdullah and Ashton expressed Jordan’s and the EU’s commitment to building on the partnership and cooperation ties.
The EU official underlined the importance of the Jordanian-European Task Force meeting, which started yesterday, noting that the Kingdom’s success in its reform efforts is of a great significance to Europe, the statement said.
