Bhubaneswar, 20th December
A male elephant calf rescued from the Betanti range from the forest of Sahitpur was brought to Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology(OUAT). Trunk is one of the vital organ in an elephant’s body. It is same as fingers are for humans and apes. Damages in the trunk do not recover in general. In this case, sadly more than half of the trunk was damaged.
Currently it’s being treated with pain killers and antiseptic medicines. Surgery is being considered by the experts as a permanent cure.
