AMMAN (JT) – Jordan seeks to become a logistic hub for Turkish products and commodities bound for Africa and the Gulf, Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit said on Saturday.
He made the remarks at a joint press conference with Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan following their talks in Istanbul yesterday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Meanwhile, the two countries said they see eye to eye on various issues, mainly the Mideast conflict.
Bakhit said Jordan can act as a transit point for Turkish commodities to reach the Middle East and North Africa region, along with the lucrative Gulf market.
He said there are many ideas that will be translated soon to boost commercial cooperation.
In the presence of the two prime ministers, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday, to assist Jordan in benefiting from Turkish experience in the field of construction.
Erdogan underlined the success of his country’s plan to build 500,000 housing units for citizens, adding that a project involving the same figure is in the pipeline.
During the visit, Bakhit also met Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who stressed the importance of increasing cooperation and coordination between the two countries regarding all issues.
