Khilafat-ala-Minhaj-e-Nabuwwat (Successorship to Prophethood) in past & Ahmadiyyat

Divine leadership in the latter days
Khilafat-ala-Minhaj-e-Nabuwwat (Successorship to Prophethood)

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
[In The Name Of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Ever Merciful]

The Qur’an-e-Kareem says:
Khilafat has been extended
Allah has promised to those among you who believe and act righteously, that He will surely make them Successors (khalifas) in the earth, as He made Successors from among those who were before them; and that He will surely establish for them their religion, which He has chosen for them; and that He will surely grant them security and peace in place of their fear. They will worship Me, and they will not associate anything with Me. Then whoso is ungrateful after that, they will be the rebellious. (24:56)

The promise of the establishment of Khilafat is clear and unmistakable.

And it adds:

“And we have already written in the Book of David, after the exhortation that My righteous servant shall inherit the land.” (21:106)

And again in Chapter 32 Verse 25 says:

And We appointed from among them leaders, who guided the people by Our command, because they were steadfast and had firm faith in Our Signs.

Allah in Qur’an’s Chapter 35 Verse 40 says:

He it is Who made successors in the earth of those who have passed away.

A Khalifa is called Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen meaning “Commander of the Believers or the Faithful”

God Almighty does everything through wisdom and foresight, and there is a good reason and logic behind successsorship (Khilafat) as well: According to nature’s physical laws, man has only a limited life span, but the task of reformation and training of society requires a much longer time. So, Allah has established the system of Khilafat after the system of Prophethood.

Q. Now, what does the successor do? Why is he important / required?
A. These successors – the Khalifas continue and carry on the task of the Prophet.

The seed sown by the Prophet is protected and nurtured by the Khalifah till it becomes a strong and sturdy tree bearing fruits till eternity. It shows that in fact Khilafat is an offshoot or branch of the system of Prophethood, that is why the Holy Prophet (sa) says that after every Prophet, the system of Khilafat is established. (Hadrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad (ra) taken from Welcome to Ahmadiyyat).

Just as Allah appoints a Prophet, it is He who appoints a Khalifa as well.

He chooses the person who is most eligible to become a Khalifa, and guides a group of pious believers into manifesting His Will through a process of selection of the Khalifa.

Khilafat is an important Institution of Islam and the religion of Islam cannot progress without it. It is only through Khalifas that Islam had made progress in early times and the same will apply in future. (Darsul Quran p.72, published November 1921)

Khilafat establishes the authority of Allah on earth, and the Khalifa strives to uphold that authority within the community of followers.

For the believers, Khilafat is an embodiment of Allah’s Unity, as they choose to abide by divine authority through the person of the Khalifa. The believers partake of the blessings of Khilafat by holding firm to their faith and practices, united under him.

The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) writes about the greatness of the system of Khilafat, its wisdom and blessing, in his book Shahadatul Qur’an:

A khalifa is in actual fact a prophet’s shadow. As no human has eternal life, therefore Allah the Exalted willed to everlastingly establish the prophet’s beings, which are more eminent and superior to all beings in the world, till the Day of Judgment in a shadow-like manner. Hence for this motive Allah the Exalted planned Khilafat so that the world may never, in any age be deprived of the blessings of prophet hood’. (Shahadatul Qur’an –Roohani Khiza’een Vol. 6, p.353).

A study of the Ayah Istikhlaaf of the Holy Qur’an tells us that the system of Khilafat, which is granted to the believers as a reward is a most blessed and magnificent system of leadership. Allah the Exalted Himself establishes this system in that community of believers that is adorned with faith and good deeds.

Khilafat is an appendix of prophethood and is the perfect shadow of that light alone. In this respect the complete image of the blessings and the light of prophethood can be seen in this reflection of prophethood.

As told, the Khulafa of God or the Prophets have a limitation. As they are human beings, they cannot live forever and sometimes this small life is not enough time to accomplish all the objectives assigned to them. They are however responsible for bringing the message which they do in the perfect manner. To spread it and to make the coming generations follow them remains.

A state of deep fear follows and a sense of happiness eschews when a Prophet of Allah passes away.

Fear is in the hearts of Prophet’s followers – Happiness in the hearts of the Prophet’s opponents. The believers do not know who will lead them and continue the mission & message of the Prophet. The opponents rejoice over their victory thinking that as the Prophet is dead, so is his mission. These disbelievers of a particular prophet now plan a plan to turn the Prophet’s believers into disbelievers / if not at least to mock them at their leader’s death.

Allah says in the Holy Qur’an about them:

Surely, they plan a plan. And I also plan a plan. So give respite to the disbelievers. Aye respite them for a little while.” (Ch. 86: Verses 16 -18)

This promise brings security and peace to those who were in fear, namely the followers, bringing them true lasting happiness. The same sign brings fear upon those who were happy, namely the opponents.

But it is in these times of fear that Allah manifests His signs and great miracles. These miracles are witnessed by those who are patient and steadfast. Those who show perseverance in the wake of an apparent loss are the ones who feel and see the Glory of Allah Almighty. Just as the Holy Qur’an says:

that after fear we will establish them again…” (Ch. 24: Verse 56)

These verse mentions that in due time all the plans of the disbelievers are frustrated. The time of fear for the believers is just a time of trial. It’s a trial of steadfastness and patience. Trials of this nature are mentioned in the Holy Qur’an as:

O ye who believe, seek help through perseverance and Prayer; surely, Allah is with those who patiently persevere.” (Ch. 2: Verse 154)

Allah never leaves any sacrifice unrewarded, and the body of believers who pass through this great trial after the passing of a Prophet are bestowed this blessed establishment. This establishment is the office of Khilafat. This is explained vividly in the following verse:

The Holy Quran states:

And we have already written in the Book of David, after the exhortation that My righteous servant shall inherit the land.” (21:106)

To detail:

Allah has promised to those among you who believe and do good works that He will, surely, make them successors in the earth, as He made Successors from among those who were before them; and that He will, surely, establish for them their religion which He has chosen for them; and that He will, surely, give them in exchange security and peace after their fear; They will worship Me and they will not associate anything with Me. Then whoso disbelieves after that, they will be the rebellious.” (Ch. 24: Verse 56)

This verse mentions that learned righteous and godly people are made successors to Prophets.

Khilafat is a divinely appointed station. In the verse “He will, surely, make them successors in the earth”, the Holy Qur’an says that Allah Himself will make Successors. The hearts of believers, those who are persevering and in a state of fear will be inclined towards acceptance of Khilafat.

Therefore, a system of Khulafa of the Prophets evolved. The Khulafa stands responsible to continue the mission of the particular prophet and do their best in meeting the objectives set forth by the prophet under the guidance given by God. History has witnessed this many times.

Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad [as], the Messiah and Mahdi, likened khilafat to the second manifestation of God’s power – the advent of prophets being the first manifestation.

‘And We gave him Isaac and Jacob; each did We guide aright, and Noah (Nuh (as)) did We guide aright aforetime, and of his progeny, David and Solomon and Job (Ayyub (as) and Joseph and Moses (Musa (as) and Aaron (Haroon (as). Thus do We reward those who do good.’ (Ch6:V85)

‘And We guided Zachariah and John and Jesus (Isa (as)) and Elias; each one of them was of the righteous.’ (Ch6:V86)

‘And We also guided Ishmael (Ismail (as)) and Elisha and Jonah and Lot (Lut (as))! And each of them did We exalt above the people.’ (Ch6:V87)

‘It is these to whom We gave the Book and dominion and Prophethood…’ (Ch6:V90)

Khilafat in the History:

From the Islamic perspective, all Messengers of God had Khalifas / successors for completion of their missions. It was through their Khulafa (plural of Khalifa) that the goal was achieved for which the Messengers were sent. Their mission, as we understand, is to protect the Law and to bring back “the erring flock into the Master’s fold”.

Prophets who are Successors of other greater Prophets are also mentioned as Khulafa in the Holy Qur’an the Prophets who follow a greater Prophet are to follow in the predecessor’s footsteps, using the same teachings and the law.

Hazrath Muhammad (saw) had told that The Promised Messiah (Maseeh-e-Maood & Mehdi-e-Mood) will re-establish Khalifat.

In this way, Our age has witnessed his greatest spiritual Khalifa in the person of Ahmad (as) – the Promised Messiah was a Khalifa of the Holy Prophet. Indeed he was bestowed the title of Khatamul Khulafa, or Seal of the Successors, by Allah Himself in one of his revelation.

Such Khulafa come to revive the teachings of the earlier Prophets. They do not bring any new law, but bring back the people to the original teachings. Khulafa come after Prophets to continue their mission. They are a source of continued support by Allah for the mission of His Prophets. They uphold all values of the true religion and lead their followers to higher spiritual grounds.

The very foundation of Islam, worship of one God, is mentioned and associated with Khilafat in the above verse. The object of man’s creation is to worship Allah; and to attain that goal Allah will establish Khilafat for the believers.

The Holy Qur’an mentions this type of Khilafat as:

because they were required to preserve the Book of Allah, and because they were guardians over it.” (Ch. 5: Verse 45)

Khilafat will dismiss any shirk (disbelief) developing among the believers and will also tear down the the biddat (innovations) entering into religion which often happens with time and which is apparent in every religion. The Khalifa will turn wholly to Allah alone. Khilafat will be a rope to which all those who believe will be tied–a rope extending towards the direction of Allah. Peace and security are mentioned as the great rewards bestowed by Allah when Khilafat will be established.

The followers of Khilafat will stand strong against every kind of fear or persecution, adversity, hardships, trials and tribulations because of their firm faith in Allah. The faith of believers will be multiplied many folds after witnessing the Glory and Succor of Allah in the form of Khilafat. The Khalifa operates not only as the spiritual head but also as a most affectionate father of every member of the divine community where all the community members become his children… the love & affection from both sides is extraordinary – the whole community thus unites as just one big spiritual family. The Ahmadiyya Muslim is the only example available to present this point perfectly: No matter where we go, if we find a single Ahmadi Muslim over there, it is as if we’ve found a closest relative, a best friend – such is the bond of love connecting our hearts.

It is the practice of God Almighty, and since He created man on this earth, He has been demonstrating this practice, that He helps His messengers and grants them ascendancy. He has said:

kataballahu la’aghlebanna ana wa rusulee – meaning – Allah has decreed: Most surely I will prevail, I and My Messengers. Verily, Allah is Powerful, Mighty. (58:22)

Now, let’s go through the past generations of our time and see Khilafat / the Khalifa in those times.

1. Moses (as):

Joshua was the first Khalifa of Prophet Moses who succeeded him as the new leader of the Israelites who took over his mission and brought the Israelites to the Promised Land and thus accomplished the mission of Moses.

Moses was 120 years old when he received revelation that his death was near, and was asked by God to appear in the tabernacle along with Joshua. Let’s look into the Bible for more details, come.

The Old Testament describes the event as follows:

The Lord said to Moses:

Behold, the days approach when you must die; call Joshua, and present yourself in the tabernacle of meeting, that I may inaugurate him.” So Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the tabernacle of meeting. Now the Lord appeared at the tabernacle in a pillar of cloud, and the pillar of cloud stood above the door of the tabernacle (Deuteronomy 31:14-15).

At another place we read:

The Lord said to Moses: “Take Joshua the son of Nun with you, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him; set him before Eleazar the priest and before the entire congregation, and inaugurate him in their sight. And you shall give some of your authority to him, so that all the congregation of the Children of Israel may be obedient”. (Numbers 27:18-20).

Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel,

Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with these people to the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them; and you shall cause them to inherit it. And the Lord, He is One who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed (Deuteronomy 31:7-9).

In the Holy Qur’an we read:

“…And Moses said to his brother, Aaron, ‘Take my place amongst my people in my absence, and manage them well and follow not the way of mischief-maker” (7:143).

The Arabic words used in this verse for “Take my place” are ‘akhluf-ni’ for that the root word is ‘kha-la-fa’, the same root from where the term ‘khalifa’ is derived. “Khalifa” not only means a “successor,” who comes after his predecessor, but it also means a “deputy” who might be appointed in the lifetime of an authority.

The words show that Aaron’s postion was that of a subordinate to Moses. Moses called the Israelites “my people” and directed Aaron to act for him, i.e., officiate in his place during his absence.

2. Jesus (as):

St. Peter was the Khalifa of Jesus who took his message to other lands where the Israelites had established themselves. Saint Linus succeeded Peter as the second pope. St. Anacletus (78 CE – 91CE), who was of a very humble origin, was the third successor to Jesus.

3. Mohammad (saw)

At the death of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Hazrat Abu Bakr was elected as the first Khalifah, to succeed him came Hazrat ‘Umar , and then Hazrat ‘Uthman , and this Caliphate ended with Hazrat ‘Ali’s death who was the fourth and the last Khalifa of Prophet Mohammad (saw).

So the Khulafa of Prophet Muhammad (saw) were:

1. Hazrath Abu Bakr (ra)
2. Hazrath Umar (ra)
3. Hazrath Uthman (ra) and
4. Hazrath Ali (ra)

Under these Khulfa-e-Rashedeen the Islam spread to the Persian Empire on the East and the Roman Empire towards the West.

Muslim Caliphate Vs. The Dynastical Muslim Monarchies / Self-proclaimed Khalifas

As the original Muslim community – people of Prophet Mohammad (saw) transhaped from the Caliphate to a series of Monarchial Dynasties – starting from within 60 years after him (saw) & his four Caliphs [his Khulfa-e-Rashedeen called the rightly guided Khilafat], the monarchial times had started. These Kings, however, preferred to designate themselves as “Caliphs”. This was how the monarchs and their courtiers, successfully “dodged” with the Public Concept of Islamic Rule.

Very Important Point: Muslim Populace Needs To Understand That “Dynastical Muslim Monarchies” were “Kingships” And Not The “Islamic Caliphates In Succession To Prophethood”.

The phrase “Muslim Caliphate” construes only to mean “SUCCESSION to PROPHETHOOD” – nothing more and nothing less – period.

Every other kind of self-styled Caliphate which did not commence from a Prophet CANNOT BE AND MUST NOT BE called, attributed as and/or understood to be “the Muslim Caliphate”… IT IS NOT.

It can be, at the very most of it, a Mockery of the blessed concept of Islamic Caliphate – BUT CANNOT BE CONNECTED WITH THE ISLAMIC CALIPHATE by any measure.

The Ahmadiyya Caliphate

With return of Prophethood came Khilafat-ala-minhaj-e-nabuwwat meaning successorship to Prophethood as prophesied by our beloved Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw):

Prophecy of Prophet Muhammad (saw) on Khilafat

Prophethood shall remain among you as long as Allah shall will. He will bring about its end and follow it with Khilafat on the precepts of prophethood for as long as He shall will and then bring about its end. A tyrannical monarchy will then follow and will remain as long as Allah shall will and then come to an end. There will follow thereafter monarchial despotism to last as long as Allah shall will and come to an end upon His decree. There will then emerge Khilafat on precepts of Prophethood. The Holy Prophet said no more.” [Masnad-Ahmad, Mishkat, Chapter Al-Anzar Wal Tahzir]

The Holy Prophet had prophesied eventual success of the Promised Messiah’s community.

He did foretell the coming of reformers (Arabic: Mujaddid) at the head of every century to revive the faith (Sunan Abu Dawood). These men would be spiritual khulafa who would guide the community in religious matters. But they were to culminate in the coming of the Promised Messiah in the 14th century, whose mission would be to kill the antichrist and sow the seeds for uniting the divided Muslim community (which would by then be divided into 73 sects) and all other religions included. For these two roles he would be called the Messiah and Imam Mahdi, respectively.

“It has always been the way of God, ever since He created man in the earth, that He helps His Messengers and the Prophets, and grants them victory – as He has said ‘Allah has decreed that He and His Messengers shall certainly prevail’ (58:22)… God manifests with powerful Signs the truthfulness of their claims, and sows at their hands the seed of righteousness which they want to spread in the world. (The Will, pp. 4-5).

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), the Messiah and Mahdi, likened Khilafat to the second manifestation of God’s power – the advent of prophets being the first manifestation: He had said: “Allah’s Divine Power is manifested twice. I appeared from God as a manifestation; and after me there shall come other persons who will be the second manifestation of Divine Power—

—And the coming of that manifestation would be better for you because it would be everlasting, of which the link shall not break until the end of the world.” (Al-Wasiyyat, pp 6-7, Ruhani Khazain vol. 20, pp 304-305)

He drew a parallel and proffered the archetypical Khilafat of Hadhrat Abu Bakr as the second manifestation. He quoted the Quranic verse 24:56 and made a prophetic statement:

“The second manifestation cannot come till I go. But when I go, God will send a second manifestation for you which will remain with you forever.”

This second manifestation unequivocally refers to the Ahmadiyya Khilafat.

On May 1, 1908, the Promised Messiah said, “Khilafat has been extended by the Almighty until the Day of Judgment, and this is a special honor and distinction in Islam for its corroboration and revival, reformers (Mujaddideen) have been coming every century, and will continue into the future…” [Malfoozat, Vol. X, p. 262 (published Nov. 20, 1984)].

Hence, after a hiatus of thirteen hundred years, the divinely-guided Ahmadiyya Khilafat in Islam re-emerged in accordance with the prophecies of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (saw) and of the Promised Messiah Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as). This was one of the most significant events in the history of Islam whose impact is being seen each day as it passes by and it’s full impact yet to be seen

In perfect following of the Islamic tradition, Caliphate was re-established on May 27, 1908 after the demise of the Hadrath Mirza Ghulam Ahmad – (the Ummati Nabi of Prophet Mohammad (saw)/the Maseeh-e-Maood/the Imam Mahdi/Promised Messiah/Prophet of all Religions) – on May 26, 1908 (Inna Lillah-e-Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajeeon);

The progress of Ahmadiyyat since then has been blessed by the institution of Khilafat – the spiritual system of leadership in Islam, wherein their (the Khalifa’s) mission is to protect and preserve the law from being tampered with. (5:45)

…. They were required to preserve the Book of Allah, and because they were guardians over it. They fear not men but Me; and barter not my signs for a paltry price. (5:45)

Those are blessed who have accepted to be in blessed institution of Khilafat which has come back in Islam through Islam Ahmadiyya.

Hadhrat Maulana Hakim Nooruddin, r.a., was chosen as his first successor and Subhan’Allah, Masha’Allah, Al’humdulillah up to this day – the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has amiably extended the “Message of True Islam” to reach “Corners of the Earth” under the patronage of Five Caliphates. Their time line is as follows:-

1. His Holiness Al-Haaj Maulana Hakim Nooruddin, r.a.: May 27, 1908 – March 13, 1914

First Caliph of the Promised Messiah --- Al-Hājj Mawlāna Hāfiz Hakīm Noor-ud-Din

4. His Holiness Mirza Tahir Ahmad, r.h.,: June 10, 1982 – April 19, 2003

5. His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad, a.b.a.: April 22, 2003 – Present

Khalifa-e-Khamis (Fifth Caliph)—His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad, a.b.a.: April 22, 2003 – Present

Hence, once again the institution of Khilafat in the tradition of Khilafat-e-Rashida has begun in Islam throught Islam Ahmadiyyat.

The Ahmadiyya Khilafat is the second manifestation and Allah has assured Ahmadi Muslims that this Khilafat will last to the end of our times/generation. Khilafat provides unity, security and directs progress. Evidently, no other sect in Islam has such a strong leadership, nor enjoys such unity and devotion among its followers. It is a fact that, apart from the institution of Khilafat, there is no other system in the world that can guarantee unity—this is the hallmark of the rightly-guided-Khilafat.

A Conclusion:

Muslims, who should have been united in harmony, are divided in countless sects today. By discord and disharmony the power of the Muslim world has not only disintegrated, but also they are using this broken strength against one another: The obvious result is the restlessness seen in almost all of the Muslim countries today. Therefore, Muslims from all over the world are obligated to unite at the hand of one Imam (leader) and this is absolutely impossible without the blessings of Khilafat.

This should help your understand my point: Let us take a small mosque for example.

When a person goes to this mosque for prayers, there’s usually an Imam leading them. Standing behind this Imam is a demonstration of unity, discipline and harmony among people, agreed? Now if you do realize the importance of an Imam as a compulsory requirement for even a small mosque, then how could you think that the whole world Muslim community can survive without an Imam? What better instance can be presented for the need of an Imam and unity? Very clearly, an Imam is an absolute important requirement for the Muslims of today or May I say an immediate required too, given the current conditions of Islamic world.

Unity of Muslims is very important today: Clearly again the only way of achieving Global peace is by accepting Khilafat… there’s no other way.

Had this not been the sole purpose, there would have been no Khilafat at all because the spiritual condition of Muslims in the days of the Holy Prophet was a thousand times better than the Muslims of today. If they need to follow an Imam, how can we live without an Imam today when the condition of Muslims is crying for it? This is the answer why Khilafat is needed.

Allah chooses the Khailfa so, Rejoice!

Now you shall always remain under directives that are based on goodness. Insha’Allah, there will not be any decision which is not based on goodness. ‘No obedience is obligatory if it involves disobedience to Allah.

The Khulfa are not the government and so are only answerable to God. They do not belong to a political party, country, race or tribe. Their view of the world is based on one human race regardless of the color of the skin, creed or origin.

The Ahmadiyya Khilafat is a spiritual institution… and the Khalifa is not a dictator: It has and seeks no political power, no statehood. Likewise Ahmadi Muslims seek to advance only by spiritual methods.

Khilafat is a great Divine blessing. Without it there can be no solidarity, cohesion and unity among Muslims and therefore they can make no real progress without it. If Muslims do not show proper appreciation of Khilafat by giving unstinted support and obedience to their Khalifas they will forfeit this great Divine boon and in addition will draw the displeasure of God upon themselves.

Many prophecies of Hadhrat Muhammad regarding the revival of true spirituality and rejuvenation of the Islamic faith were fulfilled at the hands of Hadhrat Ahmad (as). The extraordinary progress that the mainstream Ahmadiyya Community has made since the Split and that too, under the “sapling,” is perhaps the single most important testimony to the blessings of Allah and the truth and vitality of a divinely inspired Khilafat system.

Qadian remained the headquarters of our community headed by the Khalifa until 1947, but with the partition of India came the creation of Pakistan, which moved the headquarters & the Khalifa to Rabwah (a town built by the community in 1948). Again however, In 1984 the Ordinance XX was promulgated by Pakistan due to which Khalifatul Masih IV left Pakistan and migrated to London, England, which is now the current Headquarters… however, sooner or later, Ahmadiyya Khilafat is to finally return to its birthplace India which will then become and rightly called India, the Dar-ul-Islam, as prophesized.

~~~***~~~
The Ahmadiyya Community is now passing through another golden era of a fifth Khalifa, Hazrath Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Amir al-Mu’minin, (May Allah assist him with His Mighty help and Allah grant him a long life), who holds the worldwide Ahmadiyya Community together as one. He ensures that every step taken under his leadership is in the right direction, fulfilling the mission of The Promised Messiah (as) and Imam Mahdi – the reformer of the latter days. The Khalifa is particularly dedicated to ensure that Islam remains in its pure state.
Just as a father does not like that his children should fight among themselves, so does not God like that His creatures should fight against each other. In fact, all quarrels and frictions are due to our straying away from God, so He out of His mercy sent the Promised Messiah, Ahmad (as). The Ahmadiyya Movement is willing, with the grace of God, to make all sorts of sacrifices and endure all sorts of hardships until the time when all racial and political wars are ended and love reigns supreme. We hope that good people of all nations, whatever their creeds and beliefs, will help the Ahmadiyya Community in their efforts to promote peace.
~***~
No danger will ever overtake Khilafat in Ahmadiyya.
The community has reached a stage of maturity in the sight of God. No eye of the enemy, no hatred in the heart of the opponent, no attempt by the opposition will be able to harm it in anyway. Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya shall Insha’Allah Insha’Allah Insha’Allah continue to flourish with just as much glory as the glory promised to the Promised Messiah (as). This Jama’at (community of followers) shall live upto the Judgement day, Insha’Allah. So, pray, sing songs of His praise and renew your pledges. Al-Fazl 28 June 1982)
