Lutfblogs:
Luton’s ‘Preservation of the Finality of Prophethood Forum’ has finally published a rebuttal to the Ahmadiyya Muslim advert which had reportedly offended the Muslims of Luton. This is a paid advert published in this week’s Luton on Sunday.
I was pleased to see that the writers of the advertisement have used civil language which is a remarkable achievement by itself. I am sure that the hate speech laws would have caused many edits before the piece was sent to the printers.
I say this because in my experience, all ‘Khatme Nabuwwat’ (Finality of Prophethood) organizations are known for their venomous language against the Ahmadiyya Muslims. This language often breeds violence against the community, the most recent example of which was in Hyderabad, India, where a drunken mob attacked the Ahmadiyya Mosque during the Friday prayers.
It is refreshing to see that Luton’s anti-Ahmadiyya Mullahs are willing to share their beliefs with the community without inciting violence and hatred.
How does their definition of a Muslim help any of the readers is another matter.
When did the finality of prophethood become one of the central tenets if Islamic beliefs?
The committee of 22 Mosques in Luton would struggle to find a verse in Quran to justify this belief. They do present a verse in the advert
‘ Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets.’ (33:40)
The term used here is ‘Khataman Nabiyyeen’, translated by the classical translators like Pickthal, Yusuf Ali and Arberry as the Seal of Prophets. This term has been understood by the commentators to mean the best of the prophets. But since the founder of the Ahamdiyya Muslim Community claimed to be a subservient prophet to Muhammad (peace be upon him), his opponents have rejected the more sublime understanding of the verse in favour of a pedestrian one.
Before the inception of Ahmadiyya Islam, classical Islamic scholars had no doubt about the coming of a prophet within Muslims who would reform them and teach them the true wisdom of the Quran. He has been referred to in the Hadith as ‘Eesa Ibn Maryam’, Jesus, Son of Mary. Muslims have been, and most are still waiting for the Promised Messiah.

The translation of khaatam un Nabiyyeen as last prophet is not correct. Khaatam is not last. For last is word Aakhir in Arabic. Allah did not say Aakhirun Nabiyyeen. So there is no need to translate it as last prophet.
Many scholars have described the prophet s.a.w.s. as the “Seal of the Prophets.” (Even Saudis too.)
If one thinks over and wants to translate the verse as last prophet then it should be translated as “last prophets” because the word prophet is in plural form (Nabiyyeen).
The Quran published by the Saudi government has now translated the verse as “The seal of prophets”.
Great learned man, Maulvi Muhammad Qasim Nanotavi Rh.a. who established a religious school at Deoband in India wrote a book “Tehzeer an Naas”. In that book, in the very beginning he says that “To say that the prophet is the last one after all others, is a translation of the low level 9low knowledge) persons…”
He said that the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.s. is the last prophet who brought a law. He is the last law bearing prophet. Ahmadis agree to all that.
The maulvis are doing a double mistake. They are pressing hard to keep Isa Ibne Maryam alive in heavens and making the prophet s.a.w.s. as the last prophet in all respects. Yet they are believing that Isa will one day come down from sky to correct the ills of the Muslim Ummah.
So it appears that maulvis want to make Isa as the last prophet and Khaatam an Nabiyyeen.
Hazrat Aisha Rz.a. had said to Muslims, “Say that he is Khaatam an Nabiyyeen but do not say that he is the last prophet.” The maulvis should at least respect the respected lady i.e. the mother of the faithful.
Another problem: It is true that Allah will not send any prophet in this world as He used to send before Muhammad s.a.w.s. No new or old type of prophet will come as they used to come. Now there will be a new type of prophet hood. Many have attained to that rank in this Ummah. The many great saints in this Ummah had attained to the rank of prophet. Allah spoke to them. But did not name them as prophet. They were capable of being prophet. They were Muhaddatheen. For example, Sh. Abdul Qadir Jeelani Rz.a. and Shah Waliullah Dehlavi and Shaikh Akbar Mohayuddin Ibne Arabi…. and Shaikh Ahmad Sirhindi rz.a. All were high ranking men of God. They were not addressed as prophets but they had the status (rank) according to the verse 4:69/70.
Mohayuddin Ibne Arabi rz.a. said, “Now only members of the Ummah will be prophets in the world and no one else…”
Isa a.s. does not belong to the Ummah of Muhammad s.a.w.s. He belongs to the Ummah of Moses a.s. So he (Isa a.s.) cannot come as a prophet in this Ummah.

Quote–Mohayuddin Ibne Arabi rz.a. said, “Now only members of the Ummah will be prophets in the world and no one else…”
Isa a.s. does not belong to the Ummah of Muhammad s.a.w.s. He belongs to the Ummah of Moses a.s. So he (Isa a.s.) cannot come as a prophet in this Ummah.–unquote
.
Ghulam Sarwar, your argument based on your opinion, NOT based on Allah,(Al Quran, but based on a man name is –Mohayuddin Ibne Arabi rz.a–
.
Let me explain it to you based on Al Quran.
.
All followers Mose(as),Jesus (as) and Muhammad (saw) are Prophet Ibarahim’s offspring, all ummah of Islam..there is no different among them.
.
Allah confirmed this to the Prophet and all the Muslims. He says: “Say ye: ‘We believe in God, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to all Prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: And we bow to God in Islam.” “.(QS.2:136).
(it means that Muhammad’s followers have to believe Allah and practice all Allah’s books )
.
My friend, Ghulam Sarwar-; I would like to remain you; believe in Allah alone, do not believe in man. You will be safe from Syrik and Hell.
.
With all my love to you.(Ghulam Sarwar-)
alatif, the subject was: Is Isa a.s. an Ummatee (follower) of Moses a.s. or Muhammad s.a.w.s?
You have avoided the real matter.
I had said that Jesus a.s. is from the Ummah of Moses a.s. What is wrong with that? Please tell and do not reject the good words of learned men.
The elders of our faith who have gone before us long time ago also thought over many matters for us and gave their opinion. It is not good to shun their opinion about important matters which we are discussing even today.
If I do not follow the words of advice from Hazrat Mohayuddin Ibne Arabi then why I should follow your advice. You are also a person, a man or a woman. According to your own principle, I may not want to follow your directives.
With all love and good wishes, no hard feelings, wassalam.
@ Ghulam Sarwar…You can believe a thought of someone but should based on Al Quran.
.
I did not see a verse of Mohayuddin Ibne Arabi rz..just his opinion. this is wrong, will misguide you.
My argument always based on verse from Al Quran. you have to believe and follow God’s verse, NOT me.
.
It is fine if your argument refer to someone as long as based on Al Quran. Do you see my point?
.
If you refer a Hadits, should be followed with a verse of Al Quran.
.
The function of Hadits is to explain the meaning of a verse.
.
If a hadits is not to explain a verse, this hadits is false, fabrication, or ancient Arab tradition. This hadits is not Syariah Law.
I,e. Women are forbidden to shake hand with a man
or women are forbidden to go outside of her house without her brother,or husband etc
.
Be careful to refer to hadits.
With my love
alatif, Thank you for your advice.
