Essence of True Love for Allah: Sermon by Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (ATBA)

Alislam.org; In today’s Friday sermon Hazrat Khalifatul Masih gave a discourse on love of God with reference to the writings and pronouncements of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace). Huzoor said in these extracts of Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) love of God is defined and its reality is expounded as well as the secret of its attainment is given along with explanation of its profundity and philosophy. These extracts also explain what should be our standards, those of us who have accepted him and are included in his Jama’at, as regards love of God, and what expectations did the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) have of us. Each extract is thought provoking and a beacon of guidance and it is important to pay heed so that we understand the essence and the spirit of the subject and can progress in it and reform ourselves.

The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) wrote: ‘Love is not pretence or ritualistic, rather it is a faculty among human faculties. Its reality is that the heart likes something and is drawn to it. Just as the real qualities of something are made evident when it reaches a state of excellence, so is the case of love. Its treasures are made apparent when it reaches its climax and highest point. Allah the Exalted states: ‘…and their hearts were permeated with the love of the calf…’ (2:94). In fact when a person completely loves someone it is as if he permeates him or consumes him and is imbued with his morals and manners. The greater the love, the more one is naturally drawn to the qualities of his beloved so much so that he becomes an image of the beloved. This is also the indication when man loves God he attains God’s light on a reflective basis in accordance with his own powers. And those who love Satan acquire the darkness which is in Satan’ (Nur ul Haq, Part II, p. 430, Ruhani Khaza’in Vol. 9)

Huzoor explained that adopting Divine attributes is an expression of love of God and as Huzoor had explained in his Friday sermons based on knowledge and understanding of God a few weeks ago, unless one is aware of all attributes of God one cannot have His knowledge and understanding. Love of God is the next step up and when Divine attributes are adopted one receives Divine light.

The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) wrote: ‘The reality of love necessities that a person truly likes all the attributes, morals and adorations of his beloved and endeavours with all his heart and soul to be completely devoted to them so that having being absorbed in him, he can acquire his beloved’s life. One who truly loves is wholly devoted to his beloved and is apparent from the countenance of his beloved and has such a representation of his beloved in his heart, it is as if the beloved permeates him. He is imbibed in the beloved and makes it evident to people that he is completely absorbed in the beloved’s love.’ (Nur ul Haq, Part II, p. 431, Ruhani Khaza’in Vol. 9)

In response to an objection raised by a priest regarding the Islamic concept of love of God the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) wrote: ‘Let it be clear that in reality this objection is applicable to the Gospels and not the Holy Qur’an because the Gospels certainly do not teach to have personal love of God and to worship Him out of personal love. The Holy Qur’an is replete with this teaching. The Qur’an clearly states: ‘…celebrate the praises of Allah as you celebrated the praises of your fathers…’ (2:201) and ‘…loving them as they should love Allah…’ (2:166). That is, remember God much more than you remember your fathers and it is the distinction of believers that they love God the most; they do not love their fathers, mothers, other dear ones and themselves as they love God. It is then stated: ‘…endeared the faith to you and has made itlook beautiful to your hearts…’ (49:8). It is stated: ‘Verily, Allah enjoins justice, and the doing of good to others; and giving like kindred…’ (16:91). This verse constitutes rights of Allah and rights of mankind and its supreme eloquence is that Allah the Exalted has explained both aspects in it…As regards rights of Allah this verse signifies to obey God Almighty with عدل (fairness) because He has created you, has nurtured you and continues to do so at all times. It is His right that you too should obey Him. And if you have greater insight then do not merely obey Him owing to His right to be obeyed, but do so as احسان (doing of good) because God is the Benefactor Whose favours are unlimited. Obviously the stage where احسان (doing of good) is kept in view is a higher stage than عدل (fairness). Constant reflection and pondering over [the concept of] احسان keeps the countenance and qualities of the Benefactor ever in view, therefore the definition of احسان includes to worship God as if God is watching.

  1. LOVE IS A GOD WORD. LOVE IS THE CORE OF ISLAMIC TEACHING. ONLY WITH LOVE CAN DEFEAT HATER OR EVI-LMEN.

    1. THE FIRST GREATEST COMMANDMENT.
Matthew 22.37. Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.

    2. THE SECOND GREATEST COMMANDMENT.
And the second commandment. is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself, (Love all people regardless his race and religion ) All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”Matthew 22.37.

    3. “If you do love Allah, follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you your sins; for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” QS 3:31.

4.. Prophet Muhammad(saw) :Those who does love his neighbor, he does not love God. (Hr Muslim).

Who neighbor? all people who live in your neighbor such; Christian, Jews, Hindu, Atheist, gay-lesbian, Mukmin, Japanes, China, America etc except those who do crime..

5.. Whoever loves God must also love his brother or all people. 1 John 4:21

    6. Matthew 5:44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

Romans 12:20 On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.

    7. The entire law is summed up in a single
command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. Galatian 5:14

    8. John 2:10-11. Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble. But whoever hates his brother is in
the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him. Then he will fall in the hole of misery

    9. It was said ,”you shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy; But I say to you love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who spitefully use you and persecute you.Matthew.5:43-44.

    10. Do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner in living in your country, love them as you love self. Remember that you were foreigner in Egypt”. (Laviticus 19:33).

    11. It is hoped that Allah will bring about LOVE between you and those of them with whom you have enmity (enmity=gay, atheist, Jews, Christian, Hindu etc ). 2 Allah is Powerful, and Allah is Most-forgiving, Very-Merciful. (7) Allah does not forbid you as regards those who did not fight you on account of faith, and did not expel you from your homes, that you do good to them, and deal justly with them. Surely Allah loves those who maintain justice. QS 60;7-8

From above verses we can conclude that Allah commanded clearly Muslim to love those who has different faith, religion ,atheist and gay lesbian.

    Those who still reject Allah’s verses above; Allah said;
And certainly We have revealed to you clear signs. And no one denies them except the sinful. QS 2;99.

And such are the Parables We set forth for mankind, but only those understand them who have Knowledge.QS 29:43.

May Allah give you the right knowledge in order to understand Allah’s laws completely. Ameen

  2. CONTINUE….

those who follow Jesus teaching will filled his heart wIth love and mercy.

Old interpretation; Extremist Clerics never tell to their followers that following Jesus’s teaching, Allah will fill our heart with the grace, mercy and love of Allah. For they hate Christian and Jews as well.

Allah commanded His people to love all people regardless his beliefs, race, gender and non believer.

Then, in their wake, We followed them up with (others of) Our Messengers: We sent after them ‘Isa the son of Maryam, and bestowed on him the Gospel; and We ordained in the hearts of those who followed him Love,or Compassion and Mercy. QS.57;27

And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the law that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel: therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the law that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah.(taqwa) QS.5;(46).

In other word, those who does not read and practice Jesus’s teaching will not get love, or compassion, mercy and guidance from Allah (swt)

Their heart will be filled by satan, then they will do what satan ask to do. Satan is against what Allah ask people to do. Satan want people go to Hell with him by doing violence and talk slander, backbite, rude, to people.

For Satan doth sow dissensions among them: for Satan is to man an avowed enemy. QS 17:53.

So what we in Middle East now is conflict, klling their brothers. Very pity, sad and heartbreaking and also embarrassing, because they call themselve are Muslim and they claim that Islam is peaceful religion and bring mercy to mankind.

In fact, opposite, they have been showing to the world ugly, cruel image of Islam. Right?

They say we believe Jesus and Bible, but they hate Jesus and Bible,They never read Bible.

That’s why Allah do not fill their heart with wisdom, love, compassion and tolerance etc.

Their heart full with hate toward others.

Hate stir up trouble, conflict and murder.

Hate stir up trouble, but love forgives all sins Proverb.10:12

1.. God hates evil -minded people, but loves those who do right.proverb11;20 .

    2. 1 John 3:15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him

    3. John 3:20 For everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn’t come to the light, lest his works would be exposed.

4.. God is pleased with good people, but condemns those who plan evil. proverb 12;2

    5. God hates liars, but is pleased with those who keep their word. Proverb’12.22

    6. God hates evil thoughts, but God is pleased wit friendly words.Proverb 15:26

    7. A hypocrite hides his hate behind flattering words; They may sound fine, but do not believe him, because his heart is filled to the brim with hate.He may disguise his hatred, but everyone will see the evil things he does. Proverb 26:24.

    8. Violent people deceive their friend and lead them to disaster.Proverb

    9. Violent people talk badly or cruelly , but a god man talk kindly or nicely.

10, Violent people look for ways to harm other; event their word burn with evil. Proverb

May Allah give the guidance of the right path to all extremist Muslim clerics who hate others and ask Allah for forgiveness. Then may Allah give them His grace, love and mercy.

    For You from My Heart.
All those who read shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; O Allah, be my witness, that I have conveyed your message to your people.

    with all my love
