75 Years of Ahmadiyah Indonesia

Seventy-eight years ago the Indonesian state has not been established. At that time the Dutch East Indies Indonesia covering an area are exactly the same as the current state of Indonesia. Seventy-eight years ago, the people of Indonesia has been known as a religious community. When the Europeans came to Indonesia, the majority of Indonesian people have converted to Islam. Indonesia later became known as one of the countries with the largest Muslim population in the world.

Hadhrat Khalifat al-Masih the Fourth was the first Caliph to visit the largest Islamic country. Hudhoor’s visit lasted from June 19th to July 11th, 2000.

Seventy-eight years ago, though still in the Dutch colonial modernization of Islam has reached Indonesia. Indonesian Islamic scholars, especially from West Sumatra began developing their ideas on the modernization of Islam. They left separately, (late) Abubakar Ayyub go along with (late) Ahmad Din, while the (late) Zaini Dahlan follow later. Three young men were reunited in Lucknow, India. None of the three when it was thought – according to the divine destiny – that their departure would be a monumentally important event in the development of Islam in Indonesia, especially for Ahmadiyah in Indonesia. Indonesia was the third young man immediately reached Lahore and were very impressed at the Ahmadiyya are a lot of changing various aspects of faith and their understanding of Islam, even though at that time they found it from Isyaati Anjuman Islam or known as the Lahore Ahmadiyya. Indonesia was the three young men continue their studies at the Madrasah Ahmadiyah.Tidak long before they felt the need to share the blessings of God’s grace they have received it with their colleagues in Sumatra Tawalib. In the rain-soaked day, mid-summer 1925, Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih II ra, Hazrat Haji Mirza Mahmud Ahmad ra Basyiruddin lead release (late) Maulana Rahmat Ali ra to leave for Indonesia. The foundation of the development of Ahmadiyah in Indonesia has been laid.

Development of Ahmadiyah in Indonesia is very attractive. Unlike Ahmadiyya developments in other countries, the development of Ahmadiyah in Indonesia has a very special thing. Because Indonesia is an important point in the world, when World War II broke out, Indonesia became the main target for the allies and the axis. As the efforts of Islamic countries to destroy Ahmadiyah through Rabithah Alam al Islami rampant in the early 1970s, the Indonesian scholars follow their lead.
