Young Muslims joined local residents last week to help clean up an alleyway plagued by littering and fly tipping.
Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA), based in Morden, joined the Crusoe Road Plus (CRP) action group in Mitcham to help tidy up the area and plant edible hedgerows.
A mixture of hazel, elder, blackthorn, dog rose and crab apples were planted which had been donated by the Woodland Trust.
Caroline Cooper-Marbiah, founder of the CRP action group, thanked the young volunteers for helping to make their road “cleaner and greener”.
AMYA is the oldest UK Muslim youth association in the UK with more than 100 centres nationwide but are based in Morden at Western Europe’s largest Mosque.
