Dawn: Credit Rueters: ISLAMABAD: A new British-based Islamic group plans to meet in Islamabad to issue a religious decree against a Pakistani schoolgirl shot by the Pakistani Taliban, accusing her of supporting “occupying” US forces.
The move against Malala Yousufzai, 15, is likely to provoke outrage. In the days following her shooting in October, she became an international icon and world leaders pledged to support her campaign for girls’ education.
“There will be a fatwa issued regarding Malala Yousufzai taking into account the full story of her injury including her public statements in support of the occupying US army in the region and mocking of key symbols of Islam such as hijab and jihad,” said Abu Baraa, a senior member of Shariah4Pakistan.
The group, whose website features a blog below a photograph of Yousufzai in a hospital bed titled “Don’t Believe The Crocodile Tears for Malala Yousufzai”, is associated with some of Britain’s most hardline Islamic groups.
Anjem Choudary, a prominent radical cleric in Britain, said the fatwa could be issued on November 30 at Islamabad’s Lal Masjid, where a 2007 army raid crushed a Taliban-style movement controlling the compound.
It seems that every Tom, Dick and Harry or self-styled Mufti thinks he can issue a ‘fatwa’. The only thing they do is giving a bad name to the beautiful religion of Islam. May Allah save us from such ‘scholars’…

As I mentioned before in my comments on this story, I am in Pakistan and monitoring the TV and English language press regarding this story.
In your own story in MT, you forgot to tell the whole episode concerning this tiny news.
1. The mosque’s deputy head, Maulana Amir Siddique, denied the group would hold such a conference but organisers insisted they did not need permission to gather in a public place of worship.Of course, gathering for a prayer as Anjam says is one thing and using a mosque for the idiotic purposes of issuing a false Fatwa is another thing. Why you have left this important detail from your own comment is strange to me.
2. No TV Chanel in Pakistan has taken up this story and only DAWN newspaper referred it using Reuters as the source but only as small news item.
So please let this useless news on MT rest in peace.
Only things that typical Mullahs have to do about Islam is its implementation on women and dominating them or expelling people from its fold. They find nothing that will benefit humanity at large.The issues of education, poverty, health or invention.
yes one more thing they feel that Allah has not programmed for honour protection of His grand Prophet PBUH hence this duty has been assigned to them. All the pious Muslims of the previous 13 hundred centuries were unaware of such a protection plan.
In fact they are self assumed protectors of Islam and its Holy founder. They have nothing to do with the beautiful religion Islam. Their task is only according to a Hadith create differences and issues among Ummah and be called the worst creature under the canopy of sky. God have mercy on them.
Has anyone seen them helping the suffering humanity, feeding the poor. campaigning a cleanliness awareness drive among the Muslims. Making them understand the importance of patience and dignity?
