Since many years Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Germany is celebrating 3rd of October as the day of open Mosque. In Germany this particular day has a distinguished significance. The Day of German Unity (German: Tag der Deutschen Einheit) is the national day of Germany, celebrated on 3 October as a public holiday. It commemorates the anniversary of German reunification in 1990, when the goal of a unity of Germany that originated in the middle of the 19th century, was fulfilled. Therefore, the name addresses neither the re-union or union, but the unity of Germany. An alternative choice to commemorate the reunification could have been the day the Berlin Wall came down—November 9, 1989, which coincided with the anniversary of the proclamation of the German Republic in 1918 and the defeat of Hitler’s first coup in 1923. However, 9 November was also the anniversary of the first large-scale Nazi-led pogroms against Jews in 1938 (Kristallnacht), so the day was considered inappropriate as a national holiday. Therefore, 3 October 1990, the day of formal reunification, was chosen instead.  Taking advantage of this national holiday, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community through out Germany makes special arrangements in all of its mosques and mission houses. Whole day is devoted to welcome the guests and to brief them about real teachings of Islam and Ahmadiyya Muslim community.

As reported by Newspaper HNA Wabern, on 3rd October 2012, members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Wabern were sad also. A few weeks ago, some one  torn Koran and scattered pieces were found on the ground of the mosque. Local Ahmadiyya Muslim Community President, Mr Jamil Ahmad told the media when he came to mosque on the Day of the Open Mosque to comment on controversial Mohammad video. The snippets collected the Waberner Muslims back and put them in an appropriate place. For the community, the tearing apart of their holy book is incomprehensible. They all lived and worked here in the region and wanted to live with their neighbors in peace and harmony. But such negative act seems to be  the work of some nasty minority.

The Open Mosque Day took place in Wabern and drew great response. More than 200 guests visited the mosque near the sugar factory. Many went to look at a mosque inside. Böth Hermann and his wife, Dorothea, had brought his parents Hermann Böth and wife Inge. Both knew the mosque in Wabern just from passing by. Now they wanted to visit the building from inside.  Previously Inge Böth had read the Koran and  now wanted discussion . Even Mayor Günter Jung and his wife came. There was coffee, tea and freshly made Pakistani specialties.  For community  the open mosque facilitates in  maintaining the contacts which  is of paramount importance, said the community spokesman Khalid Mahmood and Jamil Ahmad. The municipality is also seeking contact with the population and would learn about their religion. Therefore the Open Mosque Day was ideal.

In additon to Wabern, every where in Germany the Ahamdiyya Muslim Mosuques were visited by thousands of guests. Germans were very eager to know the response of Ahmadi Muslims about anti Islam film, “The innocence of Muslims”. Representative of media was also present in major places and later in the evening few mosque got lot of coverage on TV through out the Germany.
