Thousands of cellphone subscribers in Pakistan received an anonymous text message recently announcing a miracle: an earthquake on Tuesday, Sept. 18, had destroyed the Washington, D.C. movie theater that was exhibiting Innocence of Muslims, the controversial film that has triggered violent protests in several Muslim countries. An email version of the text message even included a picture of a mangled structure. Allah, the texter claimed, had shown His anger against the movie’s insult to Islam and Prophet Muhammad, and with Him on their side the faithful should not be afraid to vent their anger against the West, which belittles Islam and abuses Islam’s prophet.
A thousand years ago, Muslims led the world in the field of science and mathematics. Today they are noticeably absent from any list of recent inventors and innovators in science and technology. Since 1901, only two Muslims have won a Nobel Prize in the sciences, and one of them (Pakistan’s Dr. Abdus Salam, Physics, 1979) is not deemed a Muslim in his home country because of his association with the Ahmadiyya sect.
Editor’s Note: Muslims are not taught Islam by the mullahs rather a politicized version of a distorted ideology which is a figment of their own imagination for their ulterior motives – Much like what it was like with the Catholics during the Dark Ages. No wonder Galileo was labeled a heretics for his “blasphemous” theory that the world is not flat rather a round shape object. Now it’s the “Muslims” who are denouncing the first noble prize winner in science as a heretic! Abdus Salam claimed that Holy Quran guided him to be a better scientist and the Unity of God led him to the ultimate unification of forces theory which rewarded him the Noble Prize. Instead of this learning from this precious son of Islam, his fellow countrymen were too busy to play god with his faith led by these illiterate mullahs – the demagogue of Islam as prophesied by the Holy Prophet that a time will come when the “scholars” of Islam will be the worst creature s under the canopy of sky.
So Haqqani is partially right that the rage is not about religion but about politics but he fails to point out that the Mullahs in his country are not making any differentiation between their distorted faith and their corrupted politics.
The problem with Pakistani Muslims is that over the decades their concepts about neighbourhood, society, elders and specially about non-Muslims. Situation has become so bad that you cannot say Salam to anyone who is not known to you and you cannot even stop kid of your neighbour from doing any wrong act. Inter-religious/inter-sect hate is increasing day by day. Wrong concept of Jihad has completely turned the society upside down. Kids who were bullying each other by calling ‘O Qadiani or O Shia’ has now started ‘O Deobandi & O Brelvi’ etc. Naturally they learn this from their parents who receive sermons from Mosques. God only knows what is still to come our way.
Under these circumstances we can only pray for Pakistan and its people.
