Following 30 days of fasting, Muslims around the country are today celebrating Eid Ul Fitr.
Eid is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
In Fiji, Muslim men attend the mosque for Eid prayer.
On this day samai, a dish of fine, sweet vermicelli noodles mixed in warm milk along with sweets and Indian snacks are served to guests visiting throughout the day.
The traditional Eid greeting is Eid Mubarak, and it is frequently followed by a form

  1. Assalamo Alaikum , The age of the moon which was sighted by some members in Fiji was 14hrs 59min. But according to Royal Astronomical Society the youngest moon ever sighted by naked human eye is 15.4 min in 1871 when atmospheric pollution, and city light pollution did not exist, In recent times the crescent that has been seen with naked eye had the angle of 10.5° which corresponds to 17 to 21 hours of age. Remember, even 17 to 21 hours age does not mean that every moon of this age will be visible. My argument here is if the moon of 14hrs59min had actually being sighted in Fiji then this is miracle or this is breaking the record of 1871 time of 15.4.. The Muslim Community should take this seriously and should release the names and identity of the 3 person who has sighted ..

  2. Assalamo wa Alaikum , Please kindly note that Fiji Muslim League fasting period was for 29 days not 30 days in Fiji Islands as mentioned above. jazakallah.
