Muslim figure says Ahmadiyah still part of Islam

The Jakarta Post, Jakarta

An executive of Muhammadiyah, the country’s second-largest Muslim organization, said that Ahmadiyah sect was still part of the Islamic society despite their different beliefs.

Muhammadiyah’s secretary Abdul Muti said that the acknowledgment was solely based on the will to maintain good relationship with their Ahmadi counterparts.

“Muhammadiyah acknowledges Muhammad as the final prophet, which is rather different with them, but that doesn’t change our will to maintain good relationship and improving future cooperation with them,” he told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday..

He added that Muhammadiyah would stand against any violence attempt on Ahmadi followers, as has been savagely displayed by a minority of hardliners in the past five years.

“Government should take this matter seriously. Those who have attacked Ahmadi followers and their assets should be firmly punished,” he said.

Separately, Muhammadiyah chairman Din Syamsuddin said that Muhammadiyah has never called for a disbandment of Ahmadiyah, despite their constant arguments that the religious sect was heretical.

“We have been telling our [Muhammadiyah’s] followers to disregard anyone who belief that there was another prophet after Muhammad.

  1. Muhammadiyah is the second largest Muslim organization in Indonesia, after Nahdatul Ulama and has 29 million members. Although Muhammadiyah leaders and members are often actively involved in shaping the politics in Indonesia, it is not a political party. It has devoted itself to social and educational activities.

  2. Its amazing to read how many voices have suddenly creeped up in favour of Ahmadiyyah community in Indonesia. In fact, this is the first time that few religious groups have taken the stance on the issue of right & Wrong. It may be in response to foreign pressure and world wide reports on Ahmadiyyah Atrocities in Indonesia. We hope these voices will continue in a positive direction and we expect that authorities will take action to prevent further atrocities towards its innocent citizens.

  3. All the followers of Prophet Muhammad (S.A) including Muhammadiya and Ahmadiyya know very well and believe that Muhammad( S.A) is sent as a Rehmat-ulil-Aalamin and sent by Rab-ul-Aalamin. So all the Muslim should follow Muhammad and keep harmony between each other. The different is only this one sect says the Immam Al-Mehdi / Promissed Messiah ( Messiah-E-Mummadi ) came on its prescribed time ( Choudvin Sadi Hijry- 14th Islamic Century ) other still waiting. No basic difference.
According to agreed Hadeeth , ( Mann Kala Laillah Fa ho wa Mulim ). So reciting Kalimah Tayyaba is enough to become a muslim.According to many Ahadeeths who recite The Kalimmah and claim as a Muslim then no boy have the right to say him Non-Muslim or Kafir other wise it will become vise versa

  4. This indeed is an exceptional news. Hearts and Eyes pleasing. May God give all the Muslim scholars to realize this fact and voice out the truth. So that they may receive favors from Allah’s bounty.Amen

  5. In the past few months the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Indonesia has been flooded with foreign inquiries about Ahmadiyya atrocities. The word media has widely reported the continuous and rising persecution of the Ahmadiyya community at the hand of government officials.

We are glad to see the relegious groups have finally responded and we do hope the steps taken in this regard are concrete and not just on paper.
