ISLAMABAD: Counsel for former Ambassador to the United States Asma Jehangir, speaking in reference to the Supreme Court’s decision in the Memogate case, said that the civilian authority had come under the army and that it was a “dark day” for the judiciary.

Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court on Friday, Jehangir said that the court’s judgment in the Memogate scandal was disappointing.

“I was expecting at least one dissenting voice against the judgment, but I did not see any ray of hope in the court today,” she said.

Jehangir said that the decision had compromised a person’s right to justice.
