RT: Getting a drink in Central Moscow on New Year’s eve is going to be impossible.
Authorities are to ban the sale of alcohol in the city centre on New Year’s Eve night.
All shops is central Moscow will stop selling all alcoholic drinks at 7pm local time on December 31 and can not resume until 8 am the next day.
The Moscow City Government say the ban will stop drunken revellers in the streets, and prevent extra rubbish.
The Russian Government has already introduced a law restricting the sale of spirits after 11pm in Moscow. Wine and beer can still be bought.
The ban does not stretch as far as the city’s suburbs, where alcohol sales will not be affected.
