AMMAN – Around 70 per cent of young Jordanians agree that the Kingdom is on the right track in terms of reform, a poll found.
The survey also found that the majority believes the government of Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit is doing its job in a satisfactory manner, reflecting almost the same responses of a previous poll held 100 days ago.
The poll, carried out by the University of Jordan’s Centre for Strategic Studies (CSS) a few days before Eid Al Fitr to assess the government’s performance after 200 days in office, also showed that citizens of the southern governorates said the country is not moving in the right direction in general, unlike those living in the north and middle regions.
The nationwide survey, whose findings were revealed on Tuesday, indicated that 67 per cent of the national sample and 73 per cent of opinion leaders agreed that the country is on the right track.
The government’s lowest ratings came from respondents from Karak, Tafileh and Maan, while respondents from Ajloun, Mafraq and Madaba gave the highest ratings.
The study encompassed a sample of 1,840 Jordanians over 18 from all over the Kingdom and 700 opinion leaders, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 per cent.
