The Chairman of the North Sulawesi Regional People’s Representative Council receives a visit from the National Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community

The Chairman of the North Sulawesi DPRD, Dr. Fransiscus Andi Silangen SpB KBD received a visit from the National Amir of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Zaki Firdaus Sahid ST MT, along with his team on Monday (22/6/2026), in his office.


Manado, DetikManado.com — The Speaker of the North Sulawesi Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), Dr. Fransiscus Andi Silangen, SpB KBD, received a visit from the National Amir of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Zaki Firdaus Sahid, ST, MT, in his office on Monday (June 22, 2026). The meeting was warm and filled with an atmosphere of national dialogue, and was attended by DPRD North Sulawesi staff and administrators of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Community.

The Speaker of the North Sulawesi Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) emphasized that the nation's founding fathers provided a foundation and example for the direction of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, which is not based on a particular religion but upholds religious and spiritual values ​​in national and state life.

According to Dr. Fransiscus Andi Silangen, Ahmadiyya Muslims are Indonesian citizens and a legally recognized organization.

"Ahmadiyya Muslims have the right to carry out various activities and activities as long as they do not violate applicable laws, including in North Sulawesi Province," he said.

Fransiscus Andi Silangen welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with Ahmadiyya Muslims in various social and national activities as long as they have a positive impact on improving the quality of life of the people of North Sulawesi.

Meanwhile, the National Amir of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Zaki Firdaus Sahid, stated that the Ahmadiyya community is not a political organization and has no political goals. Furthermore, as an organization, the Ahmadiyya community is not permitted to engage in practical political activities.
He explained that the Ahmadiyya's primary focus is on religious and social movements, including disaster response activities with Humanity First, educational programs through the establishment of 100 learning houses in Indonesia, the "Clean the City" cleanliness movement, and the 100,000 tree planting initiative as a form of environmental concern.

"I also emphasized the Ahmadiyya Muslim community's commitment to national values ​​of inclusiveness, peace, and non-violence," he said.

On this occasion, Zaki Firdaus stated that his working visit to North Sulawesi was part of an effort to expand spaces for encounters, dialogue, and collaboration across all elements of society in building the nation together.

During the working visit to North Sulawesi, the National Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was accompanied by Ruslan, Head of the Manado Ahmadiyya Congregation, North Sulawesi Regional Preacher Hafiz Mutu, and other officials.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of souvenirs between the two parties and an affirmation of their shared commitment to immediately implementing various social programs in North Sulawesi.

In addition to meetings with the Deputy Governor and the Speaker of the North Sulawesi Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), they also met with community leaders, religious figures, and human rights activists.

The series of events also included a speech by the National Amir of Ahmadiyya Muslims at a book review event commemorating 100 Years of Ahmadiyya Muslims in Indonesia, held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in Manado in collaboration with the Manado IAKN.
