Hina Rabbani Khar meets Manmohan Singh

New Delhi, July 27 (ANI): Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar met the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, here on Wednesday.

She also met Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, today.

Thirty four-year-old Khar, who is Pakistan’s first woman foreign minister, met the two leaders after holding talks with External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna earlier in the day.

After the foreign ministerial-level talks, both Krishna and Khar said that they have the responsibility to mend bilateral ties to reduce tension in the strife-ridden region, while acknowledging a change in the mindset of the people of both nations.

Krishna after the meeting said relations with Pakistan were on the right track.

“Our relations are on the right track. We have some distance to travel, but with an open mind and a constructive approach, which has been demonstrated in this round of the dialogue, I am sure we can reach our desired destination of having a friendly and cooperative relationship between our two countries,” he told mediapersons here.

The two foreign ministers also agreed on some confidence-building measures, such as relaxing trade and travel restrictions.

“We have agreed that increasing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries would be mutually beneficial,” Krishna said.
