The Islamic litmus test

Source Asia Times:

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) boasts 57 self-proclaimed Muslim states (that includes the Palestinian territories). If the OIC embraces them, why then does the world label those in opposition to the rulers of these lands as “Islamists”? Who are the true believers or true Islamists – the rulers of these Muslim countries or the “Islamists” that oppose them? And why do the answers to these simple questions matter?

  1. It is difficult to find social and economic justice in even one Muslim country. Malaysia and Turkey may fair best among the 57 but even they are far from being labeled as just. The Middle East as whole, especially those with abundant oil and gas reserves, may be the most unjust societies as the depletable wealth that belongs equally to everyone of every generation is being depleted with waste and unjust distribution as its mantra. Governance is oppressive in most Muslim countries, again with the Middle East leading the way.
A very interesting article and analysis. Now I can tell you why it is so. More than1400 years ago the prophet of Islam prophesied such situation where Muslim will be all over but just on papers. At that time will appear the Imam Mahdi and Messiah whose one name is HAKAM and ADDAL. Which means he will be reviving the true teachings of Islam pertaining to justice and fair treatment wilt all human beings. As per prophecy in 1889, the predicted Imam Mahdi and Messiah appeared and he established Ahmadiyya Muslim Community which now has millions of followers and gradually progressing in 204 countries of the world. Eminent Muslim leaders refuted the claim of this Mahdi and Messiah and declared him impostor. In such a scenario where the whole Muslim Ummah is denying the advent of promised Imam Mahdi and Messiah how its leaders can solve the problems of Ummah. They day Muslims will realise this mistake and will revert to the proclaimed Imam Mahdi and Messiah all the problems of Muslim Ummah will be resolved. There is no other way. Write it some where.

  2. The Islamic Litmus Test for Islamic Society would be the absence of rules, laws, and cultural values that are in conflict or violate any one or more of the principles of Haqooq-ul-Allah and / or Haqooq-ul-Ebad.

The Islamic Litmust test for Islamic society would be when its culture respects the following 5 items:

    1) When the culture gives great value to personal integrity (part of Taqwa).

    2) When the culture gives a great value to holding respect for human dignity, especially women and children.

    3) When the culture recognizes and values human rights, without excluding anyone, and without any loopholes.

    4) Respect for Justice, without exceptions.

    5) Respect for the “Rule of the Law”

Any of the following un-Islamic characteristics would be considered Red Flag:

All pre-Islamic pagan values, including some of the traditions derived from pre-Islamic Judeo-Christian values makes a Muslim society non-Islamic, such as:

    a) beheadings,

    b) Judeo-Christian traditions: executing people for apostasy and blasphemy, stoning to death and amputating body parts as punishment, even if the individual repents (Bible: Deuteronomy 13:6-11 “—you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. And you shall stone him with stones until he dies, because he sought to entice you away from the LORD your God—.”),

    c) lowering the women’s dignity as in Bible: 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 “Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.”, while during Prophet’s time women sat in the same room and also asked questions along with men also present.

    d) Child brides

  3. As Quran is most important for all Muslims, there is necessity for Taqwa too. Quran cannot be understood without Taqwa (Righteousness). Quran is that book in which there is no doubt, guidnace for the Muttaqueen.

Much has crept into the true teaching of Islam by the invented (cooked) traditions (Ahadith). Most of the present day so called Muslim scholars are using those traditions to keep Jesus a.s. alive. They are using the wrong traditions to practice a harsh form of Islam, indulging in killing in the name of Allah.
Even the important command of the Quran “No compulsion in matters of faith” has been compromised.
Jihaad is being misunderstood. Important attribute (Kaleem) of Allah is being denied. There is much theoritical ignorance. The practical side is also too bad.

Capital punishment is being advised on the basis of doubtfl traditions over riding the teachings of the Quran. e.g. Killing of apostates and adulterers.

The christians do not have the right (original)scripture and their practical side is also derailed.

The majority Muslims are not in any better position. They have the right scripture (The Quran) which is un-altered. But where is the correct understanding of the Quran?

I had great surprise when discussing a verse of the Quran with an Arab friend (Yemeni). It was the verse 2:261, translation shown below:

[And remember when Abraham said, ‘My Lord, show me how Thou givest life to the dead.’ He said, ‘Hast thou not believed?’ He said, ‘Yes, but I ask this that my heart may be at rest.’ He answered, ‘Take four birds and make them attached to thyself. Then put each of them on a hill; then call them; they will come to thee in haste. And know that Allah is Mighty, Wise.’] 2:261. It is the Ahmadiyah translation of the verse, not that by the many maulvis.

That Arab presented to me many rawayaat (Traditions) of old time scholars (many of them) teaching that Ibraheem a.s. was told to catch four birds, then kill the birds, make mince meat, put a part of the meat on the mountains. Then call the birds. They will come to Ibraheem a.s. flying.

That was the meaning of the verse according to many old time scholars or reputed persons. I was surprised that there were many names supporting that meaning. I was challenged if I claim to know more than those high grade scholars. I denied.

This was all in contravention of the correct meaning of the word “Surhunna Ilaika” which is given in the Arabic dictionary “Al Mufardaat al Imam Raghib Asfhaani”. The meaaning in the dictionary is “make them inclined to your self, Attached to yourself, make them friendly to yourself, train them to be friendly to yourself”.

Quite a good discussion followed which I will try to present here (later) to show that many traditions ascribed to great scholars of the past, given in books, are not reliable.
