Muslim women come together to focus on the importance on Prayer

Eight hundred and fifty women and girls spent a weekend of spiritual workout at the East Coast Annual Ijtema (gathering). The event was sponsored by the women’s auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and held at the Baitur Rahman Mosque, the Community’s headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland. The program began on Friday the 13th and ended on Sunday, the 15th. Each year there is a different central theme. This year’s theme was, “Come to Prayer, Come to Prosperity”, a phrase which is used in the Islamic call to Prayer, the Adhan.

The East Coast Ijtema is the largest gathering of AhmadiMuslim women in America. It is an event attended by members from as far north as Providence, Rhode Island and as far south as Orlando, Florida.   1. I don’t know of any other Muslim women’s organizations which hold such spiritual conferences. It was truly a blessed weekend.

  2. Wonderful we still don’t get to learn how they pray. Or were there any prayers answered. Maybe its a secret?

    It feels as if the power of prayer is a new thing for Muslims.
    You have to pray in freedom and truth. If you don’t have those two ingredients it is just a feel good session between sisters and that can happen anytime anywhere.

    Maybe you need to feel free first and then come to discover Truth a version of the truth won’t be enough I don’t think

    • Mike: “It feels as if the power of prayer is a new thing for Muslims” ??? It really seems you know nothing about us. Prayers are one of the pillars of Islam. There are 5 obligatory prayers plus recommended voluntary ones during day and night. In other words: The institution of prayer is much more stressed in Islam than in any other religion.
