Petition seeking extension for CJ filed in Pakistan court

A Pakistani man has petitioned the Supreme Court to extend Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry’s tenure for about two years, saying he should be compensated for the period when he was deposed by former dictator Pervez Musharraf.

Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi of Save Judiciary Committee filed a constitutional petition in the Lahore registry of the Supreme Court yesterday in which he sought the extension of the Chief Justice’s tenure by 22 months.
