The speaker of Indonesia’s parliament sought Thursday to play down comments he made about all men wanting to be polygamous but being afraid of their wives, saying the remarks were just meant as a joke. House of representatives speaker Marzuki Alie was quoted by the Jakarta Globe as making the comments at a farewell gathering for his deputy, Anis Matta. “As a man, I have to be honest,” he was quoted as saying.
I agree perfectly with the Speaker of Indonesian Parliament but I am disappointed when he said it was just a joke. The fact is that man is naturally polygamous. We should not be afraid of our wives when we want to marry more than one. We only have to fair to all of them as directed by Allah in the Holy Qur’an.
