PCBS: Palestinian population reaches 11.6 million in 2012
BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) — The population of Palestinians around the world totaled 11.6 million in 2012, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics said.
Based on the latest population projections, the bureau said 4.4 million Palestinians reside inside Palestine, 1.4 million in Israel, 5.5 million in Arab countries, and 655,000 in other states.
In Palestine, 2.7 million reside in the West Bank and 1.7 million in Gaza Strip. Of them, 44.2 percent are refugees.
The average household size in Palestine is 5.6 persons in 2012 compared with 6.4 in 1997, PCBS said, noting a drop in birth rates over the past decade.

On the other hand the number of Israeli Jews passed the emotional 6 million mark in November, and the total population will pass 8 million in February.
