SOASCIS, IKIM To Hold Joint Seminar On Islamic Ummah

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Centre for Islamic Studies (SOASCIS), UBD will be collaborating with the Institute of Islamic Understanding of Malaysia (IKIM) to hold a joint seminar on November 8, at the Chancellor Hall of UBD, as stated in its press release yesterday,Borneo Bulletin reported.

Carrying the theme, ‘Contemporary Issue of the Islamic Ummah’, the seminar will be conducted in Malay language, with the keynote address to be delivered by the former Prime Minister of Malaysia and also the Chairman of IKIM, Tun Abdullah bin Hj Ahmad Badawi.

Tun Abdullah will be presenting a talk on the topic of ‘Understanding Islam, Developing Civilisation’. The seminar will also feature four papers to be presented by staff of SOASCIS and IKIM.

The initiative serves as a basis for cooperation and collaboration, as well as working relationship in the fields of research, education, and in-training programmes of mutual interest between SOASCIS and IKIM.

SOASCIS hopes to further develop joint or collaborative research with IKIM that will lead to publications, fieldwork for joint research projects, and short courses.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the seminar at a fee of B$30 per person, while students from higher education institutions are only required to pay a fee of B810 per person.
