Israel PM Netanyahu – Eid Al-Adha Blessings

An approximate translation, to the best of my abilities, mistakes are not intentional. Please let me know if there is something you’d like me to correct

I would like to convey my well wishes to all Citizens of Israel and the Druze communities, with Joyous Festival greetings, upon the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, the Festival of the Sacrifice.

I know a lot about the Festival and its implications to both our faiths, Druze and Jews. What captivated me most, was the similarities between the Jewish tradition and the Druze Tradition. According to the Druze tradition, this festival, connected with “the end of days” requires accountability by each person, of their deeds, both good and bad. A concept I am extremely familiar, because among us (Judaism) on Yom Kippur, we’re essentially doing the same thing.

Besides for this (and it goes without saying), there is also a strong bond between us. There is the bond of Life and to my distress, unfortunately, the bond of our sustained losses. Yet, we are all relatives of the same family. A family that has experienced tremendous hardships, yet has arisen to defend its birthright, with dignity, and I am most proud to be the Prime Minister of each and every one of you.

I Bless you all, with a Joyous Festival and the continuing bond of brotherhood.

  1. The mischief seems to be in him addressing the Druze only. Druze are not recognized as Muslims by a lot of Arab Muslims. Of course if the Druze say their prayers facing Mecca, believe in the oneness of God and eat meat Koshered by Muslims no one has the right to treat them differently from other Muslims, not even Netanyahu.
