Turkey sends mixed signals over Syria

Although Ankara authorized military action against Syria on Thursday following a deadly cross-border exchange of fire, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stressed he doesn’t want war, while demonstrators in Istanbul reject the country becoming a “US stooge”. Amid concerns a regional conflict is about to begin, Ankara insists it didn’t act out of “blind rage”.
