There is so much excitement amongst the scientist community on the discovery of what has been nick named as “God’s Particle”. The “Theologians” are also happy that what their theologies or religions had been saying all these millenniums, science is proving it to be true.
While we all seem to be rejoicing this discovery, many new questions are being raised. One of those being: does this “God’s Particle” have some latent properties which could evolve into a set of “morals” once the particle after having being evolved to a life cell and later into “genes” of the human being?
And if the particle has such properties what correspondent morals could be found in the genes? And do the genes, which can be called the career of the “morals” also evolve in its morality, or the morality aspect of the genes remain constant? And if the morality of the genes evolves with every generation, in which direction does it evolve? Is it haphazard or is there a multidimensional spiral movement of the “morality” similar to the material process of evolution?
And this evolution of “morality” must have a direction and an end, and what is that end? Because when we talk about “morality” then we also talk about the concept of “Absolute Morality”. And there comes in the role of religion and the evolution of religious thought.
When it comes to “The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam”, the “highest form of creation” that is mankind, evolves from “material state” to the “moral state” and then on to the “spiritual state” of existence. This evolution takes place at individual level, nation’s level and also at mankind’s level as a whole.
When we discuss the material state, lets call that the first stage. There the “gene” has not yet started displaying its latent “morality” which can be termed as “Momo”. It is that aspect of the gene which as it evolves materially, “Momo” will also evolve. Thus with every generation, the gene and the momo must evolve to higher stage of evolution. If either gene or the momo remain at the same level, that would mean the 70 odd years of life was a waste, as far as evolution is concerned. And according to the laws of evolution, such genes and momos are left behind, and only those genes and momos which are “fit” for the next stage, move on. If Darwin’s phrase “Survival of the Fitest” is applied to the gene and momo, then the sick gene and the sick momo will become “unfit to survive”, and would be left behind.
That brings us to the contribution of every generation towards the Process of Evolution, mankind as a whole. Firstly, that the genes which were passed on by the parents, need to be “physically” maintained and improved. That brings in the “Food” and physical health of the body. Then is the Momo. During the 70 odd years, along with the gene, the momo also have to be improved and taken to a higher level, because if that is not taken care of then the gene will remain incomplete in a way. The momo will lag behind.
Thus every generation, when it comes to the physical health have to be particular about what food is eaten. Perforce that has to be not only physically healthy but the food must also be supportive of the morality which momo is carrying.
That brings us to the restrictions imposed by different religions on what to eat and what is forbidden.
In Islam and Judaism – both Abrahamic religions, the “flesh of Swine” is forbidden. In Islam there are other things as well – like blood, all birds which eat with their claws, all animals which have claws etc. There is no restriction about grains, and vegetables.
The main reason for the restriction on food is not entirely about the physical unhealthiness of that food but the impact which such food will have on the moral fibre of the individual, which if permitted can ruin the moral fibre of society, nation and mankind as a whole.
The smallest form of “morality” is of course the “momo” – it is like the “soul” of the gene and develops as the gene develops qualitatively to a higher level of existence, so that an improved version of the gene and the momo is passed on to the next generation of mankind.
That brings us to the role of society, of nations and its governments and also the super powers. Unless the super power is guided by some set of morals, those could be based on whichever religion, the important point is that the gene and the momo must improve qualitatively. That is the responsibility of the super power. Similarly it is the responsibility of every government and society to provide an environment so that the sum total of the “genes” and the “momos” in that society are provided all the opportunities, both materially and morally to get ready for the next stage of evolution.
However, there is a rub here. The scientist and the theologian are not ready to have a dialogue. For the scientist Higgons particle could tell them about the beginning of the Physical (material) Universe. And all their energies are directed to negate what the theologian stands for. Similarly the theologian scorns at the interpretation of the beginning of the Universe by the scientific experiment. The TRUTH lies somewhere in the merger of the two outlooks.
Humankind has reached a stage where technology has stalled. It needs an impetus. And that impetus would only be provided by the human mind which is not restricted either by the shackles of pure religion or pure science.
A new discipline is required which regulates the human activity – a “morality” which draws its strength not from the pulpits of the priest or the laboratory of the scientist, but is based on the morality and discipline found in nature, which we call the Laws of Nature in this part of the Universe.
That open minded approach would prepare the Human Mind to accept the “Laws of Nature” in other parts of the Universe, and consequently the Human Being would be able to inter act with other species or creation scattered all over the Universe.
It is only after the human mind has crossed that threshold that inter- planetary and inter-galactical travels would benefit humankind.
