Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) of Canada will be in Moose Jaw and communities across Canada, from Friday to June 19, praying for the wellbeing of all residents within those communities.

“If you want to pray for someone and you want that prayer to be effective, then pray for 40 days,” AMYA national executive director Rizwan Rabbani said, adding representatives from the Regina chapter of the Muslim organization would be in Moose Jaw on Sunday as part of this prayer journey.

During the 40-day prayer event, AMYA representatives would be in a different community each day. Rabbani said the participants would conduct a traditional Muslim fasting during the day (no food from sunrise to sunset), and everyone would awake at 3:45 a.m. to conduct a prayer for the community.

Then, around 10 a.m., those AMYA members will start going door-to-door, canvassing neighbourhoods, speaking with residents and handing out literature aimed at spreading a message of peace, promoting religious harmony and educating Canadians about Islam.
