If you want to donate blood, you will have a chance at one of the largest single blood donation clinics in Canada, right here in Vaughan.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association is hosting their 10th annual blood donation clinic April 28 in partnership with Canadian Blood Services.
The clinic, held twice a year, is trying to better the 156 units donated last year with the goal of reaching 225 this time around.
“In Maple, we have the biggest clinics in the country,” said Furqan Bajwa, national director of Humanitarian Services for the Ahmadiyya community.
The youth association started the clinics because it wanted to make an impact by helping people.
“Donating blood, I think, is one of the best ways of serving humanity because there’s lots of patients out there who need the blood and hospital staff, Red Cross and Canadian Blood Services are looking for blood,” Mr. Bajwa said. “This is one of the best causes to save people’s lives. It’s not hard, anybody can donate blood.”
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association is also involved in the Run for Vaughan as well as a national food drive that collects more than 125,000 pounds annually.
