The 9th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) has kicked off at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, hosting 500 exhibitors from 29 countries, Press TV reports.

Held under the theme of “Empowering The Global Halal Market”, the four-day event will display various products such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, health care, pet food, even brushes, and services such as logistics and Islamic finance.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is also present at the event with many of its products already well known in the Malaysian market.

“I am looking for more markets in the neighboring countries like Indonesia and Thailand,” Iranian exhibitor Hadi Farhangi told Press TV. “I hope in this exhibition we can see some of the foreign traders outside Malaysia as well.”

MIHAS is a part of the Malaysia Halal Week 2012 which includes the 9th International Halal Showcase as well as the World Halal Research Summit and World Halal Forum.

Inaugurated in 2004, the exhibition aims to facilitate the sourcing and selling of quality halal consumables, products and services globally.

The 2012 edition of the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) kicked off on April 4, 2012 and will run until April 7.
