Canadians flocking to Mexico despite deadly drug war

…Canadians aren’t afraid of Mexico, despite hand-wringing over the questionably safety of the country that’s embroiled in a drug conflict. If anything, tourism is growing.

Travelers continue to enter the country in droves, with 1.6 million Canadians visiting Mexico in 2010. Roughly one million went in 2009.

Still, the sun-soaked nation is wracked by a turbulent and deadly drug war that’s claimed the lives nearly 50,000, whether or not tourists can see the destruction from inside the walls of their five-star resorts.
