Maumere – Local officials in eastern Indonesia say a crocodile swallowed a 10-year-old girl while she frolicked in a river. The case is the second on that spot in the last two months.
AFP reports that Viktor Mado Waton, a district head in East Nusa Tenggara province, said the incident occurred on Thursday. According to the district official, the girl was swimming in the Wailolong river when a giant saltwater crocodile snapped her up in a moment and disappeared into the water.
According to Waton, the girl’s father and her teenage brother were hunting turtles in the river. Ria Novosti reports that Mado Waton, said: “Juraida was seized when she was in about a half-meter of water at the river’s mouth…Her father and brother could only watch helplessly.”
